The OP is looking for good cheap light wheels, of which there are very few, and even fewer that fit the FD.

I've heard good things about Rota even in Grassroots Motorsports mag. These 17" 5 spoked rims have a good 17x8.5+40 offset for the FD (or if you want to be more conservative go with the +48 offset)

^Some 18x9.5+48(Front or Rear) or +35(Rear only) that look like a good buy

Damn, nice find, I wonder if those would clear big brakes up front.

If you are making choices based on what other people have or are doing, you are not the opposite....

if you want cheap and light wheels you should look into Sport Max wheels.
Their website didn't have any real info, but another website showed they essentially have zero fitments that work on FDs.

These are $720 for a set of 4 wheels (the offset is wrong but the ROTA website says 17x8.5+40 exists)

I can't find any prices on the PF45r's yet. I'm assuming they're a pretty new rim.

I've looked at quite a few Rota wheels in the 17" sizes. They have a lot of rims which are under 20lbs and are strong which is why a lot of SCCA racers use them (I believe the Slipstreams are around 16-17lbs). Rota gets a bad rep for:

1. Not being original with their wheel designs (they are usually copies of other designs).
2. The Honda boys ramming the cars into curbs and expecting the rims to stay in one piece.

I thought about getting some but I wanted a little more width which they didn't seem to have. I still might get some for use with a rain tire for the track.

what about enkei rpf1's 17x8 in the front with a +35 offset 235's they weigh 14.5lbs and for the rear 17x9.5 with +38 offset and some 265's pretty light! the fronts go for 251 and the rears 274 each.

rynberg what would you say to some 18x9's +35 offset. i want to run 255 all around so i can rotate but would the +35 be bad on the frontend? can you give me any good advice?

Lol, Rx7 guys ram them into curbs too. Just keep in mind they are cast and in the event they do fail (aside from idiots running them into hard curbs) Rota has stepped up and replaced the wheel. That was only one instance I had ever heard of.

I just don't like the fact that they've never made a wheel wider then 7.5 inches or at least I haven't found it.

? The P45R's have a 18x9.5+48 offset . . . perfect for FD's

They don't usually do 10" rims in 17s, but you can definitely find 8.5" in 17s:

18x9 +35 with a 255 is going to cause you a little fit up front. You'll definitely need to roll the fenders. What suspension setup do you plan to run?

i plan on running my stock springs... i have the koni adjustables now as it sits. yet the more and more i think about it i should just go with 17's. anyone that does track racing laughs at 18's. i've heard it word of mouth and many many times on the forums here. i only thought of 18's cause i can get a good deal on some bbs rgr 18x9's they are forged and weigh 19lbs. i wish someone would make up my mind

i know its twelve minutes later but i looked again for some different sizing and i found the Enkei RPF1's that i suggested in 17x9 all around! the offset is +38 and im not an offset king so im asking again for the wheel gods to lend a hand in my selection. hows the fitment going to be for these all around? is there room for some stiffer springs in the future that might lower the car...? thanks again!

Based on this thread, it appears that a +45 is ideal:

Not sure if that extra 7mm will cause problems with fender rubbing or not.

There is NOTHING wrong with 18" track wheels, in fact all of the best track tires are moving more and more sizes to 18s. This is even more true for street tires.

IMO, with an aggressive fitment like that, I would recommend only using coilovers especially if you plan to track the car. For the street, you will probably be ok at stock height and rolling the fenders up front and maybe running something like a 235.

As for 18's on the track, a lot of guys use 18's. The main problem is that some of the track tires can be hard to get a decent size as you start to increase the rim size. The Corvette owners have been moaning about that for years. Its getting much better though as the demand grows.

It's jus103's car with similar wheels (M2 Hanbai DT-05R's). Here are the specs:
"18x9 Front
18x10 Rear
Tires
Falken Azenis RT-615
225-40-18 Front
255-40-18 Rear"

Not really related to the Rota P45R's but... you get the idea of how they look like on the FC :P .
