Typically its not that bad. And I stated my disclaimer, the laws have been the same for 10+ years. But here is a better source,

Thats only your opinion. In most cases hiding the detector where it is not visible means that it will be in a position where its effectiveness will be compromised, and is generally not done because of this. The majority of people that actually hardwire these things do it so they don't have to bother with the cig adapter cable, it has nothing to do with concealing the device 80% of the time. It is just a much cleaner install solution once done. Then you can still take it out of the car and use the cig adapter in another car or you can hardwire it into all your cars so you never need to worry about the cig cable when swapping the detector around. You just mount the suction cups and plug into the cable thats ready and waiting.

You can make your own cabling for the V1. All you need is some phone cabling(ethernet cabling will work, as long as theres 4 wires you should be fine), some rj-11(6wire) plugs to terminate to the cabling and a cable crimping tool and a pair of wire strippers. The V1 only uses 4 wires but uses larger rj-11 6 wire plugs the 2 outer wire slots in the plugs are not used.

My cig adapter cable started cracking at the plastic plugs and the retention clips broke off eventually. So I cut the heads off and re-terminated the cable with new plugs and it works great!

Mazda makes the G6? A couple months ago I read some info stating that high mounting isn't always a good idea especially with laser detection. Cops aim for your license plate, moving the detector higher up is moving it away from where they are aiming.

The true best location for a V1 is right smack dab in the center of your windshield. Mounting it at dash level or headliner level can significantly effect the angle of view out the back that the rear sensor has. The center of the windscreen gives it the best viewing angle out the front and rear.

I've been meaning to hardwire my V1 for years. Never got off my *** to do it. Now that my vert is in pieces I suppose it might be a good idea to do that now. Hell I have a remote mount display that I've had for years and never used. Maybe I should try installing it in my FC rear view mirror.

That info is at least partially incorrect. Radar detectors are only illegal in some parts of Canada.

Nope

"Mazda makes the G6?" Nope. Mazda made my RX7. Only GM knows who actually made my G6. I mentioned the G6 only because when I put the detector in the G6 in the little cubbyhole behind the shifter the detector still worked. No such cubby in the RX7.
