custom leather shops---bently, rolls, and italian stuff. When I spoke to them they said they were mostly into airplanes. They just sell the leather...you will have to have someone cut out the patterns and sew up the covers locally. Once again the customer service was a bit lacking as they could not tell me why there stuff was "the best" But I was unable to get past the receptionist---I didnt really try hard--- anyway if you must have the best, here it is.

Does anyone have any experience with classicsofttrim or katzkin?
I called a shop here in dallas who does both....but I was stunned by the sticker shock of $1200!!! I was expecting the leatherseats.com price and do it as a lil project...these guys will install it as part of the price. What I am looking for though is a nice leather feel but less of a pleated look (no offense Zerobanger, I like your seats alot also:D) |

J/k...but really I get alot of comments on my seats. Next to my gunmetal oem wheels, my seats get me the most attention of my appearance mods (nobody notices my c/f shiftknob, :( ). They come in different styles. If you dont like them pleated, you can get them with tiny holes in them. You can also get suede insderts for $100 more. Also, you can get 2 tone colors, etc. www.leatherseats.com. been over a year, they hold up great. PS: I installed my own with no knowlege of seat cover instalation, got quoted $250 per seat!!!. |
Zero! you always find the threads! The guy I spoke to wasn't to helpful from Leatherseats. I told him that I wanted a smooth finish and not the pleated look, like the option you had. Then he proceeds to tell me that you must have installed yours incorrectly!
The guy kinda turned me off! I do like the price though... do you get any wear areas on the leather? |

I do like the price though... do you get any wear areas on the leather? take a look at the seats on leatherseats.com web site http://www.leatherseats.com/pages/interiors.htm Notice the pleats? I assure you I installed them right. Just get the suede inserts, no pleats :). |
ZB, so you did the install yourself, right?
How much were the covers again? I need one for my driver's side bad!!! |
they are just under 600 for the set and you need a 25 dollar tool to install.
|
Oh? What's the tool?
*Walks into yet another trap* |

Iwill take some pics when they are installed. I got black leather with black suede skin centers. D. |
Isn't that what Batman has as well?
|
This thread deserves to be a sticky for potential buyers.
|
Batman actually bought ultra suede and leather and hired an upholster to make him a set.
The ones I bought first off are not "ultra suede" and also they are being made by "Katzin" I payed $625 shipped. |
fd3boost,
please post pics when you get them and when you get them installed. I was considering that company as well. When is your expected ship date? |

Here is some other info that is partially related. For those converting the black plastics on the seats, the part number and prices (Mazdacomp) are listed below. I haven't actually ordered the parts but as best as i can tell these are correct. All parts are black (code 02 at the end)
FD01-88-1G5 -02 - RT reclining handle $7.20 FD01-88-1H5 -02 - LT reclining handle $7.20 FD01-88-1G1 -02 - Rt side plastic cover $27.45 FD01-88-1H3 -02 - Lt side plastic cover $27.45 FD01-68-6F6A-02 - cover for hatch/fuel lever $25.20 (this one maybe in question) FD01-88-162 - Seat cushion replacement $61.65 As you can see it will be cheaper to dye/paint them...however if you are worried about wear these may be an alternative. |
Add one more to the mix: Me!
And here's my price schedule: Parts covered in Milano (8 oz.) Ultrasuede Brand, choice of 48 colors. Black, red, grey or white thread colors: Entire seat, front & back, OEM pattern, choice of up to two colors, $1600.00 per pair* Seat center sections only, OEM pattern, one color, $800.00 per pair **"Porsche" style ribs, add $50.00 per pair. Add 1/2" EAR Specialty Composites visco elastic memory foam to center seat surfaces, $100.00 per pair Replace bottom center foam and side bolsters with Mazda OEM on driver’s seat only , passenger side N/A, $150.00 *Includes minor repairs to seat fasteners if needed, choice of thread color, Porsche style ribs if desired. ** "Porsche" style ribs includes 6, 1 inch ribs in the butt and lumbar portions of the seat. These ribs effectively make the seat deeper and give you a little more leg and head room, it also tends to give you more lumbar support since your spine is curved a little more. You’ll feel more “tucked in” to the seat, but it is not quite as cushy. Recommended for drivers 6’ tall and over. Seat covers must be removed from the frames and received in one piece. You will need hog ring pliers and hog rings to reinstall the covers - available at any quality hardware store. Any hidden damage like ripped support fabric or broken plastic fasteners will be repaired at an additional $75.00 per hour plus materials. Most driver’s seats have minor hidden damage to the underlying support attachments which is easily repaired. The bottom foam and side bolsters on the driver’s side are usually worn out and I strongly recommend that they should be replaced for maximum comfort and to give your seat a “like new“ OEM feeling and look. |
