LCD gauge cluster
hello guys, i was wondering about lcd gauge clusters, ive searched and i kno that stack, microtech and a few other companies make them, but i was wondering if i could make my own with a carputer or sumthing ?
i have sum pics of one made bye mugen and i was wondering if i could get one specifically like this, here are some links, i like the fact that its in color, but not sure if i have to make my own or what, i was also wondering if thier was a way that i could display other stuff besides the basics like boost and stuff. If not than ill just look at the other possiblities thanks guys

No offense, and to each his own, but I really don't see the point of putting in a computer screen thats made to look like normal gauges (this is based off the pictures you linked too).
As far as how to do it, anything can be done with time and money, but your best bet would be to use the real-time datalogging "dashboard" function of something like the AEM EMS and use a small LCD screen with a windows based computer mounted somewhere in the car.

hey man wat do you mean bye this ? and the apex pfc has datalogging will that work 2 or does it have to be the aem ems, i kno they are very good ems systems for supras especially but i havent gotten to much feed back from the rx7 community, are u basically saying that when i upgrade my ems, and get data logging, i should set up the data logger to a screen that i can install in teh gauge cluster ?

No but if you look / download the AEM software, you'll see that you can "Design" your own custum dash with wahtever style gauge you want showing whatever values the AEM has access to....
You could go OBD I I think it's called.... but I hear that can be a mess... OBD II which is most likely what this civic is using can be a lot friendlier.
Either way check out http://www.mp3car.com
for OBD stuff as well as a **** load of info on car computer solutions for windows, mac, and linux...
There's a neat secion on LCD controllers, you might be able to hack the PFC commander and either read or re-display the values it gets... ??? Who knows....

you might try finding an old color laptop
hack off the lcd screen and extend the wires, put the lcd where you want it and the rest of the laptop somewhere hidden.
after that you could program it in basic to display anything based on any input into the computer.
this is sort of the cheap way way to do it... 50 bucks for a laptop
and if you can learn how to program it.. you can make the display show you anything in any format...
again.. this is the long cheap way to do it and if you've got money(lots) there is no point in spending the time to do it
