Does any one know whereto get the kit too convert the doors on the 7 to Lamborghini style flip ups. There's a blue 7 in the photo section with them from over seas. Thanks Jeff

One of the other Rx7's in my team had his doors done like that, looks cool....Just a push of a button and the doors open or close........I think the name of the body shop is called Custome garage in So.Cal it took about a year to do......VERY expensive.......

This place has said they can/will do the conversion:

http://www.quwhees.com/

However, it's $3500 per door..

U can get the hinges from a kit car company called exotic rebody, but youve got to do the work yourself, itll be a bitch dude. I work at a custom shop and my boss said no f'ing way(direct quote!). Most shops wont touch that mod. I dont understand why they dont make higes that begin to open like factory, then rotate up like lambo doors. i think that alot of us would buy them(I certainly would) I wonder if anyone could modify the scissor hinges to rotate out?

you can ship the car to Japan and have RE Amemiya do the conversion for roughly $9K. or you could find a good body shop that will attemp to do it....but again top dollar.

one warning though: getting in and out will be a PITA. ever tried to sit in a Lamborghini?? the first time i got into a Lambo, i slammed my head on the door...but we got a laugh out of it. . you will have to develop a whole new technique of getting in/out of the car. some yoga and gymnastics classes will help.

makes me wonder why more cars dont come with scissor doors from the factory, or at least as an option. i think its pretty tight...

I don't suppose any pictures of that exist, do they? I'd be interested to see a good pic of a 7 like this other than the poor-quality blue one that's been circulating.

well im nto sure what your really asking but the blue one is an RX-7 FD. The whole entire kit is made by RE Amemiya (they are a japan manufacturer) Very nice imo but i think with all the bodykit and everythign u might go over what u expected to pay in gitting the RX-8

Hey that kit on the RE car with the doors, is just a special deal. They dont sell a kit to do that door conversion. RE IS THE BEST THOUGH. Their car still beats the GTR which is Japans baby race car.... Too bad your over there you guys just miss out on way too much, if you just came here for a week, you would **** yourself with as many different types and set-ups they have here....

Actually, I think you can buy all of the body elements from RE Amemiya, and make the car look the same as the blue one, with the exception of the flip-up doors.

Check out.

Yeah... flip up doors are good.. I'm ALMOST crazy enough to do it. But, seeing as I'm 6'2" and I have a garage... I just see a world of hurt ahead.

Ah well... someone else do it, so I can envy them.

They look bad ***, but I think it adds alot of weight to the car since the body will have to be reinforced to support the door swingn open like that. But bad *** none the less.

If your so into weight for racing or something, you really dont want doors like that then. TO get the door kit you need to be here in Japan..

No you don't.

To get the RE door kit maybe, but there are SEVERAL places here in the USA that will do the work for the $$$.
