Hi there everyone,
I'm Bill from importprecision.com. We will be releasing a VLS (vertical lift system) specifically designed for the RX7. You can see pics of our kit at the website... it opens both vertically AND oem. It should sell for around $1500 like our 3000GT/Stealth kit.
I'm new to the RX7 forum, but I'll be happy to answer any questions anyone might have. We don't have a release date just yet.... but its coming up.

If you can make the doors straight up and not angled out, then I'd be interested...

Just an update. The RX7 VLS just went into production. It should be available in february. This kit was designed specifically for the RX7. You are NOT getting a modified kit for another car. This is designed especially for the RX7.
There's pics of the beta car on our site, importprecision.com. The price will still be close to $1500.00.
somebody asked about both ways....ours is the only kit that opens both ways.

ppl..plz... realize that the RE doors are str8 up NON-FUNCTIONAL. they're ONLY motorized. you can't open them manually. and the amount of body work they needed to do for the door to go up absolutely vertically was tremendous... it's gotta clear the door frame/A pillar area, the fender, etc. and for it to be motorized, you're talking about poppers just to open it, then another motor to lift it...
i can almost promise u ull never see a "kit" that makes your doors open like the RE doors. you might be able to find an incredible mechanic and body guy who'll do it for u for the $10 grand MINIMUM... but we're talkin about unbelievably expensive parts from RE from japan.. or some serious creativity in comin up w/ the components from scratch...
dont expect a ferrari when you're payin for a ford...
oh and on a side note, i personally think the doors opening straight up doesn't look as nice when they're open. sure it looks exotic, but not good. if u want ppl to gawk...cool. but short of that, i think asthetically the doors comin up swept to the sides looks a lot nicer..more aerodynamic. gives the car a swept back look....

<< How can you say that? No one here in the US has that conversion (at least that is on this forum). I don't even know if anyone on this forum has seen the older non-motorized conversion in person (Chuck from Rotary Extreme has seen the motorized one in person). >>
because...if u read my previous posts, ull c i was REALLY interested in the vertical doors, so i did my research. i actually did talk to someone who saw the car in person..it was a few months back. and i took his word at face value. had no reason to doubt him...
but like i said, if im wrong, i stand corrected.

id be careful w/ importfans... i heard that their body kit parts fit like crap, so i dunno if id go w/ somethin expensive and intricate like a vertical door conversion from 'em be4 seein it on someone else's car...

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to let you know our RX7 VLS production line was set up a few weeks ago, and will be available in about 4-6 weeks.
Our kit is the ONLY kit designed specifically for the RX7. This is NOT a modified Civic kit.
It is the ONLY one that is a direct bolt on... you use your own bolts, you use your stock bolt holes. Ours is the ONLY kit that opens BOTH ways...up and OEM.
You can see our RX7 pictures here:
http://www.importprecision.com/vls_gallery_rx7.htm
Price is expected be about $1600. It can be installed in your garage. Of the 20+ 3000GT/Stealth VLS kits of which I have been personally in touch with the installing party none have had a shop install it.... it's that easy!
As always I'm here if you have any questions.

Import Precision is awesome!!!!!! I saw your doors on an Eclipse Spyder and they rocked hard! I would definantly go with your kit if I had the money!!!! Being able to open your doors out or up, whichever you felt like doing would be hardcore!!!!would definantly be a good way to show it off at a car show, one open OEM and one up....
When will these doors be available for purchase? Is there a release date yet?
*starts counting his pennies*
1....2....3....4....5....

hey bro,
just saw your post.... thank you alot for the props. The production line is set up, and the kit will be out soon. Join the mailing list for the most up to date information.
You must have seen Rob's eclipse, the on that Tyrese's car was based on in FnF2. That is one sweet ride. We have a link to Import Tuners article about it on the front page of importprecision.com.
Thanks again.... it's really great to get feedback liek that every time I hear it.
I will be at CES this year demo'ing the kit if anyone would like to come by and check it out! (I'll be the 6/5 230 pound blonde haired guy, hard to miss).

Hi there,
The RX7 kit just went into production, so the kit you'll see at CES is the 3000GT kit. It works the same way as the RX7 VLS though. Generally CES is for showing stuff off, and maybe taking orders or setting up meetings for orders, so we wont have any kits on hand for sale. If you join the mailing list (http://www.importprecision.com/newsletter.htm) You'll get lthe latest release information.
"also about 1900$" - we are 300-400 cheaper than that.

I just checked out that site.... I wonder why they call it "gull wing style". Gull wing is what you see on a Delorean (you know, so it looks like a seagull flying) ... they have it all wrong.
Thought you guys might like a preview of this months HCI magazine with our RX7 show car on the cover.
Unfortunately their site doesnt have the pics from the inside yet, but I'll probably go buy the magazine today. That is the car we had on display at SEMA in Vegas with the RX7 beta VLS installed.

actually, its called VLS, for vertical lift system.
lambo doors is what people call them because they have never heard the term "scissor doors", although I may refer to them as that because its an easy way to get a picture across to someone. lambo doors can only be on a lamborghini, for obvious reasons... but I'm sure you knew that, clever as you are

thats actually for search engine optimization marketing reasons. most people arent worrying about scemantics, so they type in "lambo door", and get what they are looking for. most people on the net believe it does work like a lambo door, so thats what they type in. you're just in the minority, although your scemantic argument could certainly be made.
