I watched your video from the website with the 3000GT and it seems like the doors come down from their vertical angle and stop when they are aligned with the door, at which point, they would be open just a couple inches to pull shut just like an OEM door. Is this how it will be on our car, or will the directional guidance of the hardware allow us to just give them a good pull from their vertical position so that they close hard enough to secure on the latches? I know its possible to close the stock FD doors when they're open only a few inches, but it is difficult when all other door/windows are closed. I realize that this may potentially be an unavoidable problem as it comes from the factory characteristics of the car and installing such door components would not necessary make it worse. But can ya just slam it while its open all the way like you can with the stock doors? .... that's my question.

While I've always had that airtight seal issue as well before I got the lambo doors put on, I don't think I ever really consciously made a note of it until you guys mentioned this. I initially thought maybe the doors were just really heavy and you had to slam them. But indeed, you're right, it's the whole airtight seal thing.
The bad news is you still have this problem w/ the VD doors I have. Since I almost never take my car out in weather other than bright and sunny, I have rarely had to close the doors w/ the windows up. But the last couple of times I got home a little late and it was cold at night, and my windows were up. And the other day, it was raining (stupid move) and so the windows were up as well. I had trouble closing the doors again. I had to open and slam 'em shut. Naturally, it takes a lot of effort. And I'd say prob. slightly more than stock -- simply for the reason that the distance with which you have to close the door is less (since the doors don't open laterally as much as stock obviously), so you gain less momentum in the swing, requiring you to input greater force to close it completely (I think that makes sense via physics laws haha)
The good news is, that's telling you the OEM seal hasn't be compromised by the hinge's mechanism. But I mean hey, for me, it's no biggie. It didn't improve the situation, nor did it make it worse. It left it as is, and I'm basically gonna continue to close the doors w/ the windows up 99% of the time.
Hope that answers your question w/ respect to the VD kit.

I also remember that meet you had in MD a while back, and there was a guy there (coincidence) who had the lambo doors on his civic, and I remember you guys made some comment like "oh look at me I just spent 7 grand on doors...now I'm REALLY fast" lool. or something to that effect. Only reason I remember cuz I had already bought the doors at that point, and I was thinking, oh man, when Dave sees MY car, boy am I gonna get flamed...haha
But I'm glad you approve. That means a lot in my book
nickpapagiorgio, it's coming! I promise! lol. I owe you guys a video, HedgeHog closeup shots of the hinges, and a couple other ppl on the forum a video sound clip of the HKS Carbon Ti in motion (including @ WOT), not to mention pics of my car w/ the new rims, etc etc.
I got my LAST exam of the year on the 14th...so I'm almost FREEEE!! lol. A few more days, and I'll have everything I promised you guys. Promise lol.

That's hilarious man. That reminds me of this guy's sig I saw on the forum. "Hondas are like tampons: every ***** has one"
But yea...thanks guys. I think they're pretty hot myself
Sidenote: anyone know what your post count has to be until you can customize your avatar writing/user level?

I heard rumors that Jay was retiring from his RX7 days, and was moving on to NSX's, so I dunno if he'll be there.
This is just a guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if Neal showed up to SevenStock. He's the guy w/ the carbon fiber and blue car w/ the VerticalDoors.com kit (like mine).
