Lambo Door kit lead?

For all those who are interested in the lambo door kits, I believe I found a shop that will do it. I haven't had any response yet, but maybe someone reading this will have better luck.

I read a while ago in another thread that a company called Decah had started making VDC's for civics

For all you ricers out there it's www.decah.net.

Anyways, curiousity got the best of me and I emailed them asking if they would do any custom jobs for fd's. They promptly replied and said that they didn't...but their shop in Florida could. You can check out their website at www.madmods.com.

I just emailed them asking if they could do it, so I don't expect anything back for a few days; However, for all those interested it may be worth your while to check it out. Their price for the Civic VDC was priced at 1599.99 MSRP, so this job might be feasible. Anyways, good luck and have fun.

This company has their own custom made lambo conversion for their Kit cars and Ive contacted them and they said that they are able to sell their parts and that it will make any car doors open just like the lambo. Havent asked them about prices but they do very good job and ive emailed them and they said that yes it will be able to be used in RX7s and to contact their US Offices for quotes, they can sell the parts....all you would need is someone to install it. It will save you a lot of money since shops wont have to do custom work, they wil just have to install their parts with your doors
check it out and contact them

I emailed them and they basically said that they can place their civic kit on just about anything. Already they have worked it on an integra and 2 door accord. They said they charge the initial 1599.99 for the kit then an extra 600 plus for the custom work depending on the difficulty of the car.

Hmm, there was a place in Florida that was quoting around $4000 per door for the FD. If you search the older threads about these types of doors you can find the name.

There is a reason there are very few FD's around (if any) in the US with this conversion, it's damn expensive.

Just about any custom shop will do it, you just need the $$$$.

Yeah, that's way too damn much. $3,00-$4k for the whole thing and I'd give some more serious thought.

It sounds like madmods could do it for 3-4k for the whole thing maybe less. They said 1599.99 for the initial kit then they start at 600 and work up depending on the difficulty of the car. Check it out and let us know.

Keep in mind, the other quote was a "real" quote from someone who actually looked at what it would take to have it done on an FD.

also i hear you have to put alot of reinforcement in the back of the car. I've heard it's weigh's 200 to 300 pounds. When i first saw the RE car i had my mind made up that that's what i was going to do but i heard about the weight and didn't continue to look into it.

You could alleviate some of the added weight by using something like the Panspeed CF doors. However, that just makes the price of the whole project go up that much more.

This isn't going to be a bolt-on kit. There will be lots of cutting involved.

I assumed the doors would have to be CF, which is probably more so why my 'target price' is unrealistic. What do CF doors cost like?

Well hell, I'll just spend $6k on the doors , hit home depot and the garage for a few hours....Can't be that hard to make some hinges.

lol, I'm glad it's not that easy. If so, just about every kid with a few bucks would have lambo doors.

Check with these guys:

http://www.quwhees.net/quwhees.html

I believe they are the ones located somewhere in Florida and who were sporting some of their work at a show (some cars with lambo doors) a year or so ago.

I found this website that sells carbon fiber doors for the fd. http://www.fc-datalogit.co.nz/carbon-door.html

Their price is $550 each + crate & freight for white gellcoat or clear gellcoat for $750 each + crate & freight. No idea where they are located, but the nz in the web address concerns me. I could be way off but is it New Zealand? If that's the case then the price goes back up to around 3k by the time it ships as stated earlier . Let us know if anybody knows anything else about it.

I believe those are "race doors", so they probably do not support locks and power windows (like the Panspeed ones, which is also why they are so expensive).

Mahjik, you're probably right. If I would have done some investigating I would have answered all of my questions on FC-Datalogic's website, but I'm too impatient . RX-7.com is their US distributor so anyone who is interested email them.

These guys were at the Carlisle show last year. These Camero conversions are supposed to use the stock doors. Baaaaaa, that's got to be HEAVY. Maybe they could shead some light this year.

Anyway check out these sites:

Too bad it's a Camero, but I give it to them for trying.

What's the weight savings between the Panspeed CF doors and the stock factory? Anyone know?
