Ok, I just realized that i have enough room to put two 12's back there if i wanted also, so 10's or 12's? i would still only have the .7 cubic feet of sealed area, but i think that i could find some 12's that would work...So what would you do, 10's or 12's? 12's would move more air and in theroy produce more bass right? Oh well, its no big deal, I was just wondering...

Get all of the specs for the two sets of woofers in mind and send them to me in a PM..I'll run them through my two programs and send some graphs back as an attachment if you'll give me the RMS watts of your amplifier...

lol I have some JBL 10's that I got in a buy one get one free sale at Circuit Shitty. I just went there to get a PS2 game

Some may not agree with me, but I think crappy subs in a good box will sound better than good subs in a crappy box.

That makes sense. its like a good engine in a crappy car versus a crappy engine in a good car (rotary engine in chevy, vs chevy engine in RX-7 ).

OK! My sub has been put in! I didn't design any custom box... just one that would fire up towards the glass in the hatch... (I can move it around, and I find that that way is the easiest way to place it)

But... Now i got an extra friggin 50+ lbs... argh!

It sounds great
Sorry about posting this--I'm just so happy

My experiences in the 20 years I've been playing in the install field bears this thought out as the true statement of an enlightened soul...

There are just really cool looking cause they have red polished/glossy alluminum cones and they would look tight in the red interior car, plus they seem semi-cheap too. I dont know a fair share about car audio...
At 17, you,ve started early so you'll be a monster by the time you hit 22. I'm going to PM you on the Volfenhag's so your jaw can drop at what I can sell them to you. The Ebay price is way off....

Well... there's not much to see! Just a plain box in the hatch area--with the sub facing towards the glass...

If you REALLY want pictures--I guess I'll waste a few minutes getting them

Ok, well I understand that you can get them cheap, but are they ANY GOOD? I just think they look badass, and I need aomething (almost anything) to go in there...Pluss ill need an amp, so if I can get these cheap (which I can) I might still have some money left over for the amp. Also, what do you guys think of MTX? I was looking at a couple 10" Thunder 8000's but if i go with those ill have no money for an amp . Anyway, any help would be great. This is also posted in the Audio forum, but no one seems to go there anymore ...Oh, and Im GUESSING that I'll only have around $300 to play with...all I need is a decent amp and subs, 10" or 12" (havent cut the holes yet). So ust about anything decent would be nice...SQ is good, but SPL is better . I kinda want a mix of both if possible...

yea volfs are pretty good but i think mike's specs are a little off,

last i checked the 12" handled 1,000 watts.
Not to knock ya mike
anywho

i own my own audio shop so of course i jumped on them with first sight, and not to mention the price.

basically there are just some performance tekniques in red.
yep thats it.

they do sound mighty good though, and ive said it before and ill say it again for the price you would have to at leat triple it to get equal performance.
i dont know how they make these so cheap???

i put a pair in my girlfriends daewoo with a clarion dxz725
and a 1900 watt amp pushing them.
her system is gettin setup for competition this summer and im gonna leave in the volfs.
will upload some pics of what i got so far if you want them,

dont wanna upload the custom box till its done though.
the custom box will feature some neons, some plexi, blah, blah, etc.

i want it to look nice but really dont care myself, just makin it look nice for her.
im just going for sound,
this summer will be the first awards shes ever won.
yes im that confident that we will win some awards.

For mar3's enjoyment, here is the crap I have in my TII:

Probably the most expensive thing I have is the amp, I bought it off a display at Soundsgreat for $400.

To answer your question on the 8000 MTX's, they are REALLY good speakers. I do a lot of them, but mainly 12's...

Felix, do you toss a blanket over this stuff when you go clubbin? Talk about out there for all to see! What's holding down the amp? Security type screws or just stuff? I'd be nervous without at least that precaution....

I hate ports, I listen to rock and alternative music. I pulled the tubes out and blocked them off.

My windows are really dark, I don't worry about it too much

theres an idea for ya if ya want even tighter less hollow sounding bass, stick some acoustastuff in there,
it makes a pretty big difference in the way the bass sounds,

hey Felix those subs/box didn't happen to come from a company that starts with J.C. and ends in Whitney would they?

That looks just like my 15" sub box I got from them...

well actually, a friend of mine paid $80 for them, cut out the tweeters, then got bored and got a pair of JBL Power Series 10" subs (in a very tiny box that he completely filled with matting... but anyway) and about that time I found seven old 286/386s in the garbage, so I took them home and traded 'em to him for the 15's The funny part was he later gave half of those computers back to me...

RMD, what subs did you end up getting? I seem to remember reading elsewhere you had $300 lying around, so what happened? We need closure here!
