JL Audio 500/5 Amplifier
I might have a line on one of these for a good price, so I'm looking for some feedback. If anyone has one or has heard one, please post your thoughts.
Thanks,
Frank

I have a 300/4 and love it. There are a bunch of glowing reviews of the 300/3 on the web. I'm sure most of it will apply to the 500/5.
Why do you want 5 channels? I originally had another set of speakers behind the seats (BA rallys) and found it threw off the staging. Currently I have BA 6.5 pro series components in the doors with the other two channels running the drivers in the Bose sub. I'm very happy with the setup in terms of its balance, clarity, and power. Sometimes less is more......unless you're going for the rolling drum machine thang

I have a JL Audio 500/5 amp. It is a great amp. I doubt you will find a better 5 channel amp out there for the price. I don't own a 3rd gen but I assume you would mount this behind the seats. It is a rather large amp but you should have enough room for it. Just so you know I think it msrps for around 700-and often goes for this price. I have seen it lower though at around 550. Just so you can see if you are getting a good deal. What are you hooking up to this? The fronts will power 100W each, the sub channel will power 250, and the rear will power 25W each from what I remember. So if Let me know if you have anymore questions I can answer.

I should have listed my pertinent system parts too:
Boston Pro 6.5's in the door
Boston RM6's in the rear
Some old Kenwood CD controller deck (4 channel)
I want to keep the RM6's in the rear for fill (25 watts apiece worth anyway) and I was thinking of a single JL Audio 10W6v2 or a 10" Treo TSX Sub, not sure yet. I will be making a sub box that fits under the rear strut bar. I'm not sure if I'll fire the sub rearward or downward (depends on the sub depth). I will then mount my amp and cd changer to the box (I'll probably use a rubber type mounting inulator for the changer)
Anyhow, that's where I'm at for the moment.
FYI, I'm still looking for a sub (amp too really) in case anyone of you guys are looking to sell.
Regards,
Frank

My "real" job has me so slammed right now that I'll be lucky just to get home in time for bed. If you haven't already, drop me an email so I can add you to the list.
