Taillight suggested retail price 314.90 each. I could probably rebuild my own turbos or primer/paint the car when the time comes and save money, but I'd rather take it to someone who can do it blindfolded.

Alright, fair enough I suppose. The hourly thing is a good point.

I'd rather not deal with all the shipping and what not, and, I find, the more I do anything on my car, the more confident I feel doing anything else on my car the next time something comes up. Not that doing this to the lights is exactly challenging, but you get the idea.

Anyway, too each their own I guess, as long as everyone is happy.

I know.. Most of the people whom were interested worried about the shipping time etc.. Especially if you are daily driver, its just pain in the butt not able to drive your car for about a week.. Or like one of my customer did, He used red film for about a week.. Its legal.. but kind of ugly.. But its only for a week..
I'm trying to provide exchange program.. I have a extra set that I could start doing that... But then its the issue of people being honest or not.. very tricky stuff..

Ok, i feel like an idiot. I just tried to take the lights off my car and i couldnt find the 3 screws you guys are talking about that allow you to slide the lights out after removing. I opened my trunk and saw 3 screws holding down a plastic piece right behind each light (it had a little "open" tab on the plastic). I unscrewed them and tried to take the lights out. the lights didnt budge. where are the screws located that you need to remove to get the lights out? thanks.

wat really the differece between the real 99 spec and a converted one?

I believe the real ones actually protrude outward...meaning the "circles" in the lenses are actually raised up very slightly off of the tailight lense that you would normally paint over. So instead of having an inside edge from paint, the edge is reversed. The circles stick out, rather than the lense looking like it covers over to create the circles. Im terrible at explaining this. Hopefully you understand what Im saying. At any rate, the lenses are essentially the only difference. They are premade as black plastic, that have been "cleared out" accordingly to the turnsignal color and brake light color of the translucent lense. Up close and personal to the real deal shows this slight and expensive difference isn't worth it aside from the psychological comfort that it may create, or trying to get some bonus points at a show, or better yet, just being able to tell people that u spent way more than u should have for a mundane detail. So what Im planning on doing is some sort of sticker. Only, I may have a rough time with placement and the possibilty of the sticker comming off over time. To those who have carbon filmed (sticker sheeted) the lenses, have you had problems with this yet? And did the lense not fit properly when u have that extra thickness from the sticker wrapping around the edge of the lense?

my fren got a converted one, it's been a while he driving with it. the black paint start fadin in different area..maybe he didn't do a good job. i m gettin a real 99 spec one, since i dun have to pay for it.. my comin xmas present

Hey guys.. this thread is old!!

anyhow, I want to point couple of things out..

1. painted ones are easier and could be done by ANYONE.. and if you want to paint it.. i will help you.. And there are many write ups about painted lights..

2. painted vs. mine.. mine are more expensive, because it takes more time.. otherwise, i will charge you same or better.. i could do painted lights in less than 1 hour!! NOT lying when i say 1 hour.. mine takes over 2 hours.. maybe 3.. If you try my way of putting film, cut, etc.. you will see that you'll spend more than 3 hours.. And my 3 hour time include all the templates made and cut.. and it take practice to get it right.. if you search for my old thread, you will see that my first set was way way off..

3. Mine are 100% reversable.. painted, thats it.. once you get it painted.. the paint fade or chips, or cracks.. you are toast and just need to deal with it.. Mine, you could convert to different design so forth.. Like my new design below..

4. Price is very reasonable seeing the time I spend.. Really.. If you want painted.. go with Ryan.. Hes good.. i never and always refused to do painted.. because i wasn't the first to do it and I don't like the idea of stealing other peoples idea.. And I hope others don't do either.. I had many people wanting me to paint and charge them 65 or so.. but I have always refused and referred to Ryan.. He has experience with painted 99.. And does a good job..
