I just got a clarion from Crutchfield...they sent me a wiring kit that acts as a "bridge" between the stock harness and the clarion harness. They also sent a plastic mounting kit. The kit has to be assembled, but look very pro after its in the dash.
Which harness has been cut? The FC's of the Clarions?

You can get the harness and mounting kit from any number of vendors. I got Schoshe, both pieces $4 each, from sounddomain.com. The part numbers can be found by matching your car year and make to the kits available.
The 'space' in my 1990 is wider than din and taller than double din, so it is a nightmare to fit with today's 1 din radios.
Since the wires have been cut on your HU, do you have the plugs that fit into the back of the HU? The mounting sleeve?
I tried an ISO (no sleeve) installation in mine this weekend. It mounted great, but because the hole is so odd shaped, I would've had to spend a bunch of time fabbing a hole filler plate. Also the width was a problem (ISO mounting typically doesn't use the trim ring, either). ISO mounting is like the factory radio, and even uses the factory brackets. Too bad Mazda made the opening so non-standard.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
I normally add a radio pocket (Toyota or Metra for about $15) to a single din so that it becomes a double din radio.
I always ISO mount. Even if that means going to the dealer and buying the mounting brakets. All the aftermarket kits for the FC mount the radio onto the dash bezel, which as you may know gets very brittle with age. So if you mount it to the dash bezel every bump helps break the dash.
using the factory brakets and ISO loading secures the radio as the factory did. Its not too hard to cut out a trim ring with a $30 jigsaw from a piece of $5 plastic that you get from the local stereo, plastic, or home improvment store.
