How's the fit and finish of the aftermarket hoods?
I have been debating on whether or not to install one of these hoods to reduce engine temps.
However, I have seen a few of these hoods at gatherings and various photos which are somewhat disappointing.
Most of them don't seem to fit that well.
Since the FD has organic lines, it may highlight the areas that have greater and/or uneven gaps.
Essentially, many of them look like they have been in car accidents.
Are there any hoods to look for and ones to stay away from?

If you get a FG hood, no matter how uneven the lines are a decent body shop can even it out before it's painted.
Basically, you'll end up paying either way:
1. You buy an original hood for more money
2. You buy a replica for less money, but pay to have it fixed up
If you get a crappy fitting CF hood, you basically just have a crappy fitting CF hood.

Me being from England i took a risk with which company i went with for a carbon bonnet (there are no such products for rx7's here in the uk).
I chose a company called VIS racing sports, and i have nothing but praise for those guys !!
The fit of the bonnet (hood) was absolutly spot on, and thier service and prices fantastic!!
The hood was incredibly well packed aswell.
Will certainly order from them again.
thats just my 2p worth,
cheers,
Dan!!

My VIS hoods fits well, but I had to do some trimming to the locking mechanism to make it lock down properly. However, my VIS front bumper I just bought is the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen. Luckily I can do all the work to fix it and make it perfect, but none the less I'm never buying from VIS again. Evan

Vis may make cheap parts but they fit well, every VIS hood i've seen has a excellent fit. I haven't seen rotary extreme but i would trust that brand as well. I'm thinking about going with a fiberglass Feed hood myself.
