How/where to hide an amp?

I have an amp just sitting in the 'trunk' of my FD. It's not a super expensive system, but I don't want somebody breaking into my car to get it. Any ideas as to how best hide the amp? I don't want to do something obvious (put a box over it) cuz the bad guys might figure that out. Is it okay to put it in a storage bin or behind/under a seat? Don't know much about car amps, so if those are stupid ideas... please say so.

The amp needs to have air circulation around it to keep it cool. The FD seats are so low you can't fit it under there unless you have a tiny amp. I couldn't even fit the hideaway module for my Eclipse in dash changer under there. I also took the bins out years ago to see if there was room under there and there's not. If you're willing to cut the bins up and install the amp under there with a fan you could do so.

Heres what I did, I have a custom sub box that sits under the rear strut bar, and you cant see behind, than I bolted up my two amps on the backside facing towards the rear on the center divider between the storage bins.

DamonB - That just shows my stereo ignorance... I didn't know heating was a problem with amps. Any other ideas out there?

USCmatt - Very cool setup, but I'm sure you've heard that before.

That's not my setup. I found that just by doing a quick search.

I dont have sounds in my car, but I imagine under the rear strut tower in the trunk would be a good option. You can use a trunk cover to hide the amp.

I have mine mounted to the back on the center divder, the piece in the picture above that the speakers are mount on, but just on the back side.

Do you have anything to secure it - securely? If all you have it attached to is the divider panel, it would likely bounce around inside the cabin in the event of an accident (and no, the power/signal cables will not keep it in place - I don't care how you have it attached). Don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to get smacked upside the head with an amp, no matter how small.

You could always put them under the trunk, in the spare tire well. If there's enough air around it, you're good to go. No one will ever see them, but you'd have to remove/raise the trunk floor to get to them, but that shouldn't be an issue, as how often do you tune your amp?

you might put it in the passenger side foot well under the glove box

what if you have people ride in your car....

the best thing would be, if yuo absolutely want to hid the amp, stick it in the spare tire well and create a duct that runs up so there is plenty of free air movement

Mine are mounted the way the first picture depicts. Really simple. The amps stay plenty cool and once the divider is in place they are completely hidden. I'd take a pic, but I don't have the camera right now.
