I was an installer for several years and built many show cars including a van a year ago for Rockford as well as several IASCA and USAC world championship cars. When I do a fiberglass box I use some neat little shortcuts which are very beneficial. I try to lay the fiberglass with the first 2 layers being the finely woven type. Next I use the standard kittyhair mat like you can get at autopart stores in several layers. I try to get everything at least a quarter to a half inch thick. Next I do a neat trick for thickness and internal finish. I use a big cup and fill it about half full of bondo. Next I pour in fiberglass resin. I start with just a little and mix it. When it is pourable without being thin as water you have enough resin. It doesn't take that much. For hardener I only use the Bondo hardener. This gives a mixture that you can pour in the box. Take the box and turn it around until the mixture covers all the interior surfaces. It is really easy and adds thickness and strength. It will harden in about 5 minutes. If you want it thicker repeat the process until you are satisfied. You can build an entire box start to finish in one day using this process. Good luck!

so the hardener thats already in the bondo when in the cup? or add hardener after mixed?

thanx for advice should help out alot. ive got one side of the bin for my vert done ( the outer skin/mold from fiberglass) if your familiar with the verts bins you know the passenger side has aa support brace in the way which makes optimum space and removeability a big problem. im going to make the lower bowl a 2 piece bolted together and siliconed so if i ever have to remove it i wont have to tear up a good box to do so. then the top will all bolt on to the lower bowl section once its together then siliconed some more. so basically one side will be 3 pieces that come together as one and come apart if needed. the drivers side will be much easier because it has no obstructions. its making for a very interesting project.

again thanx for advice
