How do I make a bracket for my aftermarket CD player?
So I bought a CD player from a friend, wired it all up, tried it out, got it working great. Then I look in the box and there's a couple minor pieces of metal but nothing that could be a bracket, not even something I could try to adapt to fit.
So what's the best way to go about making my own? There are some screw holes in the side of the CD player I can use. What material should I use and what kind of tools are involved? I already have hack saws, a clamp fastened to a work bench, other clamps, drill gun, drill press, dremmel, tap and die set, sanding stuff, basic automotive tools, etc. But other than that I don't have any machine shop stuff: no mill, lathe nor sheet metal folders/cutters. And where do I attach it to the center console? Last time I looked in there I didn't see any screw or bolt holes except for the two underneath the logicon.
Or there's the easier option that I'd prefer: Do audio shops sell pre-made brackets that would fit various aftermarket radios? Or are there audio shops that'll figure this out and install for a semi-reasonable price? Or maybe the answer is a mix of both? I found a site that sells custom vehicle-specific hardware, but I dunno how they'd have the missing bracket from the aftermarket CD player. Maybe I could use their kit and make the missing CD player piece by drilling and tapping a metal plate? It'd be nice if someone can just get me started here and then I can probably figure it out. This is my first time dealing with this.
