Help from body and paint experts
So, tomorow my car is going to go back to the autobody shop for the third time...
First time the car was brought it it was to replace the front fender (hit and run while i was parked), and to paint that, and repaint the front bumper (which got scratched, and blend into the door
I get the car back, the paint is wavy (orange peel), and in the sun it is clearly a dark brown, and not at all matching my factory black.
So i brought the car back, and after trying to buff it to get rid of the orange peel they realized the color wasnt going to match and repainted it...
I got it back today, the color match is much better, but there are little dimples in the paint, havent counted them, probably about 20 or so, the paint is still kinda wavy (compared to the stock paint), and now there is a buch of overspray (looks like clear coat) on the other side of the car. It is covering the mirror, half of the door, the window and the windsheild and part of the fender.
They said to bring it back to them tomorow.
Now I'm not an expert when it comes to paint or anything... but this seems really rediculous, they take my car back and it comes back worse than the first time.
So, what should I ask them to do.... I assume that they will have to repaint all those areas that have the dimples (they will probably want to just touch them up... should I let them do that, or demand a repaint)
As far as the overspray goes... how do you even fix that... especialy since it is on the windows and the plastic mirror, the door, and maybe even the convertible top.
Please let me know what I should tell them / make them do, to make sure that this comes out looking good.

Talk to the owner and let him know that this is unacceptable. Tell him he has one more opportunity to have it come back right or you will be taking your business elsewhere. H will most likely get his guys working on your car to get their **** toghter.
Not all employees ina shop suck maybe they just have a few or even just one dipshit workingthere screwing it up for everybody else.
I say make your point to the owner but go ahead and give them one more chance. But Definitely go in and take pics of the car and your problems with it.

hehe, nope, no maaco... but for the work they've done so far i may as well have...
I figure ill give them one more chance to get it right.
As far as the overspray goes... how should i have them remove it... would it be best for them to buff it off the paint, and then use some sort of solvent on the glass?

If you have to get bodywork done next time, try to avoid collision shops and find a shop that caters the show crowd (import, rods, etc). The final finish is their 'rep', but you'll pay more of course for the quality work.
Check out the latest issue of HCI magazine at the store. It's generally a crappy magazine, but they have an in-depth look into painting this issue (July 03) and worth picking up.

ok, thats a big of a load off....
as far as the handle on the the side they painted, they buffed thru the ring of black, and now its showing the white thru.... i know these parts come from the factory colored (not painted, but like the plastic is that color), so they will probably just want to repaint it... should i let them do that, or should i make them buy me a new door handle?
does anyone know how the door handles look after they have been painted?

I have black painted door handles and mirrors on my black vert, looks 1000% better then the plastic coated crap. They should have blended the colo into the adjoining panels to avoid one part looking different then the other, the clear coated the whole thing. Some shops use shitty clears that can yellow the surface.
The dimples are, what others have said, foreign objects in the paint, be it on the surface, in the air in the shop, or in the air supply to the spray gun.
The overspray on the windows is usually removed with either a razor blade, or some 0000 fine steel wool and soapy water. The overspray on the top should be removed with the reducer to the paint they used.

They machined buffed it!!!?? What a bunch of morons. Unless they were intentionally trying to get overspray on it (the other side, right??!!), a rub job by hand is enough (and actually preferable for the obvious reasons).
I'd make them get you a new set, but I don't know know them and your situation well enough. I don't want you to get into any more conflict with them, when the best choice is to have them painted and move on.
I can say this for certainty - don't ever use them again, and make available their name to anybody via Private Messages should they be considering a shop in Jersey.

well, its back at the shop yet again.... he claims he has is best guy working on it now.... so we will see how it comes back
i have a feeling he wants to do it right now... because this will be the 3rd time hes painted the car pannels... and now he has to buff off the overspray on the other side... so id imagine he wants to do this right so it stops costing him time and money
cuz i think by now hes realized im not going to take his ****
