Yeah the rear is a 6x8...well atleast in the base model. the factory speakers grills just pop off, unfourtunetly you have to take the whole panel off to actually get them out.
well when you do the battery relocation the 0/1 gauge will pay off. If you ever want to change your deck to eclipse let me know, I get great prices on there stuff if you dont already. they're 24 bit dac is amazing makes satillite radio almost sound like a cd.
Well glad we resolved this see you around.

I cant help myself im bored at work.
1. dblboinger your ******* arogent about electronics, but you know things that i wouldn't know or care to know but as for car electronics i think were about the same but i dont know anything about you.
2.It is possible for one speaker to ground out to mess up the rest of the speakers both my fc's did it and my truck did it to. And they were both the rear speakers touching touching metal and they were blown.
You both have some nice systems i am very picky about my systems and brands but im pretty sure boingers sounds good and fear no pistons.

Most of my stuff that i care about are rockford and alpine in my opinion there the best on the market.
The reason people have a frenzy for alpine in the past is because they had them in the lamborgini's.

Wow, a pissing match over stereo systems. This is the first I have seen about that. Its just best to pull the 25 year old stereo system out and start fresh. Get the best equipment you can afford and just build from there. Put the most money into a quality headunit. Don't go with the 6x9's in the back, go with a nice set of 5 1/4's in the front (you will have to do a little trimming).

so could it be that the fc's that come with a factory amplifier and some dont be the cuase of why the we are disagreeing on this issue? It is a fact that a speaker blown or grounding out can cuase all the speakers not to play, call any stereo shop that knows anything and they will agree but I believe that having the factory amp vs. a fc that doesnt could be the reason that some believe this. I do not know for sure becuase I have never had this issue on this particular car.

Anything is possible. For instance...if 1 speaker grounds out it could totally fry the power supply in the amplifier and result in no sound from any speaker. BUT, the lack of sound would be from the fried amp, not the grounded speaker. I'm telling you dude, the four speakers are isolated. Otherwise you would have 4 channels of mono sound. No stereo, just mono.

I don't think any one brand is best. Alpine and RF are both good, but there are plenty of sitautions where some other brand might be better. Saying this brand or that is "best" only shows you are closed minded and basing your statement on what YOU like. It's called an opinion and you know what they say about opinions....They're like ********, everybody has one and everbody else's stinks.

it is very common for a speaker grounding to cuase no sound from all of them, it happens all the time. Customers will get a deck installed at my work and put there own speakers in and come back and say the there is a problem with the deck and what do you know one of the speakers terminals is touching metal. So it is not something that "could happen" it is very common for people that install things half assed

In 30+ years of messing with car audio, I've never seen it. Seems it would at least take out a fuse or something. It's got to be killing the Vb for the amplifiers cause that is the only thing common to the 4 outputs, except for ground. If you guys say you've seen it , I'll take your word for it and consider myself lucky that I've never encountered it.

no i haven't taken out the amps. i got mono and have had to put everything on hold for now. so far my biggest accomplishment has been staring at the car in the driveway.
