Garfinkle had a 1981 rx for 12 years ,he put in rectangle shape headlights . The stock ones open about 8 inches the rectangle ones opened 5 1/4 inches. not what you were asking but a better than stock look.

I know best kits make a install kit with a recessed front loaded DIN for the 84-85 models. the older models you will have to cut the dash opening out as a iso din, and use some backstrap and make L brackets to mount it, thats what I did with my 80 and 83... The 85 has a kit from a Mistubishi Eclipse, dont ask... Its all I had in the bay at the time, I have been installing radios 12 years professionally, and I can make a lot of **** work out of nothing LOL

T&R has a flush headlight kit on their white 1st. gen that's owned by Romeo. I don't know if it's a custom job or if they bought it, in any case, check it out:
