FD Tweeter Installation Write-up
I couldn't find anyone who had done a write-up on tweeter installation for the FD. I thought I'd make my own for everyone in case anyone needs to do this in the future.
This installation is for Infinity Kappa 60.7cs tweeters. Other speaker brand installations may vary.
First, figure out where you can mount your tweeter in your door. I used the screw **** that came with my tweeter to find a good spot where the mounting cup and screw **** would fit. After you find a good location, mark it with a pencil, like shown.
After marking the circle, find the middle using a compass and poke a hole. Keep the same setting on the compass and put aside. You'll use the compass again.
Use a small drill bit to drill through the panel.
Using the hole you just drilled through the panel, use the compass again using the same setting as before and draw a new circle.
Take a knife and cut an outline around the newly drawn circle. This will prevent the interior panel skin from tearing when you drill.
Take your tweeter mounting cup and find a hole saw bit that fits. In my case, it was a 1-1/2" hole saw bit.
Drill from the interior side toward the outside, like shown. If you drill from the underside of the panel, the interior skin will tear.
Install the mounting cup and and **** screw.
