Supernaut... Yep. You know, every once in a while I wish I had done something different, because when I post pictures of what must be the most expensive FD interior ever, it doesn't get a second look. I love it, but, you talk about subtle. How about "unnoticeable"...

I was under the impression that this was one of your objectives when redoing the interior of your FD? You wanted to maintain the general aesthetics of the interior - keeping it simple - but revamp it with some top notch materials? I think you did a fantastic job. It is not a riced out, gauges and lights everywhere "ooo ahh" interior, yours is classy and can probably really only be appreciated in person.
I still do not know how I feel about what you did with the plastics though, everything else is smooth and soft looking and then the plastics have a rough and messy look uncharacteristic with the rest of the car.
Obviously it is your car but I probably would have retained the carbon fiber backing on those pricey seats you bought and then done all the plastics wrapped with carbon fiber or something to maintain a little bit of a new age / racer feel.
In regards to the OP
I spent a good thirty minutes looking around on the forum and internet for some conversions people did to their interior in the past. One that I remember liking a while back was the relocation an individual did of their a/c controls to the ceiling of the car. It sounds like a terrible idea but when it was done it looked awesome and gave the interior that airplane cockpit look, even more so than it already does stock.

hahaha Gordon I know what you mean. As long as it makes a difference to you thats all that matters right? I'm definitely ripping of your dial idea. Weird, I thought you had type RZ or spirit Rs redone in the leather. The backing of it doesn't look CF to me.
OMG those rotor dials are insane hahaha.

I just bought some RZs myself. Unfortunately, the passenger side has some where. I was thinking about redoing them both in leather like you did after the seats start needing a refresh. Based on what I see, the fabric doesn't seem to durable.
PIMP seats Gordon.

on a side note, you're not 'overdone' on the cars interior imo. I would have done something different with the seat covering (synth suede?) but thats extremely minor. you've kept a very low-key look & feel which i like.

thats funny i thought i was the onlyone who thought of that. it fits the vent like it is factory.

[QUOTE=gmonsen;9055255]Tailwhipper... Thanks very much. It is a bit different, though it looks totally stock. There is no vinyl, no plastic, no polyesther anywhere. Every surface is covered in leather throughout the interior. All plastic is metal. Carpets are wool leather bound. Headliner is wool velour. Here's the motor...

Awesome man and she's 20b.Did you do her from stock inside and out???and did you do all the wrappin, carpets, metal plastics all yourself???

My 330i has the sports package with Alcantara/Suede seats, etc. Reminds me of my R1.
since when did you have '74 911? I've had two ('76 & '79). I was 18-20 when I had those two. It was a package deal for both cars. I think the cars got more girls than I did.

How long have you installed this interior kit? any signs of peeling? Was it fairly easy to install?

This is starting to turn into Gordon's bragging thread, lol.
Just kidding, but I have to say, you are very meticulous Gordon. I really love what you have done to the car. It's absolutely beautiful.
This is just my opinion but I think you should get the 99front with your car. I think it would look absolutely amazing, especially in black.
Have you ever thought about posing next to your car? lol.

Oh, I wasn't criticizing your thoughts on the original front end. One of the things I love most about your car is it looks almost 100% stock. Other than the obvious bolt-on you have under the hood
Have you thought about Alcantara for the seats though?
Also, did you have the whole dash redone? I'm wondering because I just bought a used dash from someone because mine is a POS, so I wanted to ask: How hard was it to remove and put the dash in? I know the vents and all that are a PITA.
