The pics above show the very sharp cutoff these headlights give off. Unlike the RE setup, there isn't any upward light above the cutoff.
Installing an aftermarket HID kit is cheaper, no arguments here, but the results aren't as impressive as mounting HID projectors in the headlight.

mounting a projector BEHIND the stock lens does not give nearly as good a result as a projector alone. sure the cutoff remains but the distribution of the light is not what it should be. its also not DOT legal. and i agree about the RE lights too.

The light is distributed very evenly. It was mounted in a way that gives great performance. In the pics I posted, you will not see major hot spots or unevenly distributed light. There was a lot of time spent thinking things through so that we could minimize the effects of the fluted lenses. The light output is far better than any aftermarket HID kit alone, due to the fact that we used actual HID, DOT certified projectors.

Yeah, we are definately going to be using clear lenses for the FC conversion. The set we made is the first we've attempted...the future versions will most likely use some type of clear lens.

BMW E39, AUDI RS6 and some mercedez, ( i dont recall he models at this time) but they also have dual projectors that are the same size as the audi TT.
Have you guys eer tested those? or are you guys aware of those projectors?
They are dual Bi-Xenon projector 4100K as well and same size as the audi TT
Ive seen people fit those things inside Acura Integra headlamps and those lamps are tiny compared to FD3s.

The bi-xenon projectors I had available were larger than the Audi TT versions, so we decided to use the TT projectors for the first pair we built. That's the next thing we're going to do...bi-xenons in an RX7 headlight. Right now, we are spending our time working on the FC headlight conversion.

Available from other cars? Do you mean the housing is used by other cars? They are 6054 housings, and other cars besides the FC use the same headlight replacement type.
We bought an aftermarket housing with a clear lens and mounted the HID projector inside. These will look even better than the FD versions because the lens is clear glass. Once it is done I'll post pics of everything, including the beam pattern.

Yes, a bi-xenon projector is more expensive and harder to install, so the price will go up if we use it.
I have to get back to you on the price. We're looking at different ways to cut our labor investment so that we can offer it at a lower price.

I'm interested in this as well, I love the idea and even with the 'fluted' lense the lighting looks great. I dont mind the single beam configuration as long as the lighting for it is adequate... I'm sure it produces more than a standard hi-beam does on its own anyhow.
I would like to see where the development have come with this or if you've gotten any further on a clear lense for the FD's.

It's actually my friend that is not doing them anymore. I've helped him out but he is the one that specializes in this sort of thing. It just takes a lot of time to do this and he just doesn't have the time with school and work.
