Uh, Yes, except if you slim down XP, and Hybernate it when you shut down the startup process goes pretty fast, let me say this I live in a neighbohood 1/2 a block away from a major road, it takes less time to boot the car's computer than it takes to get out of the driveway and get on that raod.... I'd say right now, with A lot of XP's fat still on, it takes 20-30 Sec... to boot...

And as far as resetting goes, I have a power and a reset switch, so if it hangs, It's no big deal. Which it doesn't do often since I doesn't have a chance to corrupt a lot of memory, since it gets reset everytime I start or shutdown the car. This far it's hung once, when the car was cold and I let the rpm's dip a bit far, it lost partial power, and got confused.... but i've had it working for about 2 weeks now, so ask me again in a couple of months...

Either way YOU probhably don't belive in Fuel Injection either since the injectors can stick shut and you blow your motor...

Everything has it's advantages and disadvantages.... I picked my poison, I'm Sharing my project, in case there are others who wish to leverage off my Success / Mistakes. And lord knows I made mistakes, I blew up 2 Mainboards and 1 $400 LCD display before I got everything to work right....

by no way am i putting it down, I think its bad *** but you could have saved yourself a little hard work and money by just picking up and old used laptop, putting in your upgrades(touch screen, wirless cards, internal hd, or even cheaper an external hd). This way you can take the comp with you! and use it to tune your car. But definetly very very cool, i like what you did, i now know what im doing! haha oh yeah, what power supply do you have? you got one of these right

I have an Old PII 200 Mhz. Laptop That I intend to tune with when I do my initial Tune, But I don't want to lug it around in the car, and Sitting it on the passenger seat wasn't a good stable platform either.... As well as the old laptop not wanting to hold a charge anymore....
The breakdown as far as cost is roughly like this:

38X.00 7" Touchscreen
170.00 Via M10000 Mainboard
180.00 1 Gig of Ram
60.00 108 mbps Wireless Ethernet Adapter
160.00 80 Gig Toshiba Laptop Drive
50.00 Usb Hubs Wires Etc.
50.00 Power Supply
100.00 USB CDRW / DVD Rom

1150 Total

So just over a grand... if you subtract the screen, you're right I could have gotten a new laptop from dell for some where around $700 The Key Here was Size... Everything fits in the Hole that was left by the Dubble DIN Stereo / CD Player... Which is what I wanted... A Laptop I'd have to make a braket / Holder, and unless I spent the extra 380 on a screen would not be able to use for GPS / Phone / MP3 Platyer without taking my eyes completely off thr road... This way I can glance down, just like you do for your stereo....

Sorry This isn't an arguement, I'm just trying to explain myself as to, that I did look into this and this was the best solution for me.
