Who is Dcrosby? I vaguely remember this fool.
Nice job D. You install the system I got you yet? Also, get off your *** and start being Belligerent again in the West Section. We miss the old antics.

Nice job
I have yet to do a final aesthethic install my system but have it set up on a semi- temporary basis. I am seeing things or do you have your mother board and power supply exposed behind the screen or do you have a case for them somewhere. I have the casetronics c138 case and opus ps in the rear compartment with remote serial and usb access docks in the front cabin.
Do you have remote access to the USB and serial ports?
How are you handling the problem of surviving the start up crank? I just broke down and bought an OPUS 90w and it works great even with the OEM mitz alternator and underdrive pulleys.

I don't survive crank, but then again I can't really run the system while the car is off anyhow, since the battery doesn't really support it. So I just crank it straight off the batt, and then don't worry about it...
The Mainboard is exposed right behind the screen, but I figured rather than worrying about ventilation into a case, I left it open. Access of the USB and CD/DVD Rom drive will be through the glove compartment....

What software are you using as a front end? I am currently using media car with a brushed aluminum skin. Feb designed an efini skin for me so when I am at my front end the efini badge is showing. Really cool especially when I have the night lighting on, it almost matches the color of the car (Montego Blue).

I'd like to get a copy of what you have, maybe I can re-work it for Frodo Player...
Also I'm having some problems getting a descent color scheme going for the background and windows, what do you use !?

I really like the looks and functionality of frodo player and have considered going that way. Feb's photoshopped efini logo is available at mp3car.com. In fact I just checked his own website and Feb is doing front ends for frodo also. http://febsperanza.3plast.com/ You might just check the website to see if the efeini has been ported to the frodo front end or drop him a line and ask him if he will do the efini for frodo. He is a good guy and only took a few days to photoshop my efini jpg into the mediacar skin.
I use win 98se and so my background and windows themes are currently still the default blue. I have some ideas about that yet to come.

yes Window Blinds, An Interesting Solution, they want Like $19.00 for Blinds and $19.00 for the editor/skin creator or $45 for the whole chebang !... Which Includes Icon Editors Etc Etc. Etc...
I'm Still messing with the demo stuff of theirs...
I think it only works in XP as well...

The shareware is only good for XP but they claim the pro-pack works with 98SE. I am sticking with 98 because of the datalogit software's alleged aversion to XP. I can also completely reboot 98 and restart mediacar faster than my buddy's XP can dehibernate.

Sorry about the headache, but the future is now. On certain models of upscale equipment you can't turn on your car without the proper chip....understanding the concepts and being able to modify the systems on the tech stuff is going to be as important as being able to increase the size of your injector....(fuel injector not the other one) Really even now, using a full time carputer to monitor your upgraded ecu gives an amazing amount of information and control that can be used to control the car's internal systems. Add to that the ability to control everything from your music to phones and gps systems, a carputer is one of the best performance upgrades you can consider. Especially siunce you can build one for the price of an average laptop.

Will FCEdit (Power FC's software front end) work with Linux????? I didn't think the app was ported for Linux..... Is there a reliable Windoze emulator for Linux??

If you have a spare box I'd look into installing Debian, Free BSD or Red Hat, and trying an app called "Wine" it's supposed to emulate windows pretty well, especially 95/98.
The issue I havent seen much on is how well it talks to hardware, but Power FC is a Serial Interface. I just know that Datalogit is a pretty standard windows app, while AEM seems to have a lot of custum widgets etc... to show data, and that would be more complicated... for Wine to display ...

Here's Also a screenshot of the skin I'm now using in Frodoplayer
This matches the stock Lighting at Night Perfectly !
Now I'll just have to turn the fonts to white for daylight (I'll Post Something (DL Link) when it's done...)
Notice the subtle Efini Logo behind the Play List !

So everytime you start your car, you have to let your computer/stereo boot up b4 you can hear the tunes. Also, what happens when it freezes, hah. I can just picture it now, "**** i can't get the stereo to work, why not, it froze and i can't reboot"
