Ok I'm in a spot of bother as it is my first audio install.

My setup consists of:
1x Headunit
1x Amp
2x 10" subs

I have so far...
*Connected the red power cable to the battery terminal and ran that through the firewall to the amp.
*Connected the headunit.
*Connected blue remote wire from back of headunit, to back of amp.
*Connected speaker wires from headunit to rear speakers.
*Connected the ground wire from the amp to chassis of car.

Now this is where I get stuck,
when I connect the red power cable to back of amp nothing happens, now when I split the red power wire and stuck it in both the power and remote bit in the back of the amp, the amp will turn on and run continously (obviously this is not how it should work but thats the only way power will get to the amp. wtf
Also how do I connect my subs to the amp what rca cables and wires go where.
need help asap as I will takle it again tomorrow. (friday)

This rca cable pictured below in both pics was used in my mates car with the same setup as mine...I assume one end connects to the amp?

 

It sounds to me that your remote turn on is not working.

I'd suggest double checking your head unit, and the connection of the remote turn on between it and the amp.

If that checks out, then double check your documentation on the head unit, there may be a setting you have to turn on, to enable the remote turn on.

Sounds like everthing should be in order, from what you've descried.

 

Remember Power only goes thru the blue wire when the head unit is on and playing somthing radio, Cd, I-pod, Ext. Ill see if I can post some grafix to help you out. If your anything like me you need a visual reference.

EDIT:I cant remember is your amp 4 channel? Also are you only driving your subs off it or are you also runing your fronts off it too if it is 4 channle.
