I painted mine when I resprayed and I am EXTREMELY HAPPY I did.. EXTREMELY
You should scuff them and it should be okay to paint them. Just watch door dings, they will be much more obvious as there is black behind the paint still

I think I will be very careful about it to try to avoid the door ding problem. Remove them, scuff up a bit, clean, prime, sand, clean, prime, paint etc. Something along those lines... may not even make a difference who knows, lol.

tried to remove and paint mine, but they're brittle and I broke them, so they ended up shaved(look in avatar), the car is painted now and it looks so much sexier sans the mouldings, i'll post pics when it's outta the shop!

Although I am not a big fan of this, some people opt to keep the Body Side Mouldings Black! I speculate that they are still living In the 80's.
When I painted my car 1999 Mazda Miata Highlight Metallic Silver, I had the mouldings painted aswell.
