engine noise in speakers after deck installed
I installed a deck in my 85 GS hooking just the battery wire, ignition power, and ground. It worked perfectly with the car off but when I started the car something was wrong. When I reved the engine my speakers distorted. Almost as if I could hear the engine through my speakers. So I turn of the car and then my deck does not work. The light just flashes on and off and a pulse sound comes out of the speakers. Also my car would not start. When I turned the key my clock whould go out. I checked all the fuses and all where fine. Anyways I had to disconnet the deck to get my car to start. Why was my deck working before I started the car. and not after? (I have never installed a deck before). Now that I think of it, the metal casing on the deck was touching the metal of the car. Could this be the problem?

the niose you were hearing was comming from the alternater and is caused by a bad ground. however this doesn't normaly happen inless you have high power amps etc. I have no idea why the car won't start. you proably crossed the power and ign wires up.

Thanks for the advice, it was the ground. It works fine now but there is still the slightest slightest engine noise, but I could care less (for now). As for amps, I have a 150W RMS JBL Decade, not exactly high power.
