Egad... I done buying my "Simple" new audio system...PLUS
Once upon a time I decided to redo my 93 RX-7 and to include a new simple, yet good sounding, audio system. That said... over the past months I've asked and gotten advice from you folks - THANKS!, read everything I could on component speakers and car setup and demoed an endless array of speakers from shop demo boards and a few cars... I also had a budget to adhere to, so it wasn't as easy as I originally thought....
Alas... here is what I ended up with; - hardly a simple system.
All that is left is the hardest part... installing all this stuff...
Oh yeah, I also drove almost 7 hours yesterday to pick these up for $152.... they are minty fresh and untorn, unlike my current seats.
Hopefully, alot of this will be installed come Monday... and I'll eventually post pics as it progresses...
Thanks again for all your help!
Take Care,
merc

I'm getting a red X for the top pic.
Those seats look like a steal at 152! Gonna part out your old ones (fingers crossed)?

Nice setup, that must have set you back a bunch. Are you planning on including some type of dvd playback (center channel)? And where is it all going to fit? Good luck with that and post some pics when your all done!

Thanks Bill.
This car is still a work in process, so if I find I don't need the center channel, it will not be installed permanently and then sold. Also, the most expensive part of the install is the RioCar, and with the Home Docking station I also bought, I use it in my home's primary music system as well.
Total Cost will be just under $2K, but I got some very good prices off of Ebay and online shops for most of the stuff. I was patient, continually monitored Ebay and the forums and bought the gear over a period of 6 months or so. I also already had all the wiring(except 2 short balanced cables) and electrical stuff from a previous install that never happened. Here's what I paid for the rest of it.
RF RFX-8250 CD/Tuner/Preamp - $299 New
RioCar 60Gb MkIIa - $700 Perfect Used
RF Parametric EQs - $115 each New
ESX Q1204 Amp - $255 - Mint Used
AudioControl Model 11 and MBQ Center Channel - $100 Mint Used
MBQ PSD-316 - $275 New
2 Balanced Cables (Zapco) - $54
The toughest part of the install is gonna be finding a place for the midrange/tweet speaker pods. I may end up putting them forward a bit so that's why I thought the center channel would be valuable in bringing the imaging upward and forward a bit. I'll be messing around with location so once I finalize a location and pod shape/size, I'll post some pics.
The rest of the gear will all be in the forward part of the hatch area. My planned layout takes up the front 24 inches of the hatch(from the cabin divider, and will be covered by a modified hatch cover. I've taken some pics of the proposed layout, and I'll see if I can post a pic here.
Anyway... now comes the tough part.
