different types of Clear Coats?
i am buying an 88GTU and the owner of it says it might need a new clear coat. What i'm wondering is are there different types of clear coats out there? can i get one to darken the color of the car or one to add a flake or something. also what price range do clear coats run in? the car is red.

It's generally recommended to re-paint and re-clearcoat, not just the latter. Or, you can machine buff the old paint to try and bring back some of its previous luster.
And clearcoat is a clear, shiny layer of paint that is applied over the basecoat. It protects the paint from UV light and is necessary to make the paint shine. It will *not* darken your color nor can you add flakes to it.

If you want to darken your car you could throw on a dark colored pearl; my honda's purple looked like *** until i threw on a lavender pearl coat and it looks alot better.
