Cut vs. Roll for fenders

I've searched both this forum and the 3rd Gen but haven't seen anything conclusive. Is it better to cut then to roll?

As far as rolling I hear it can crack the paint, especially on a '93, lip can pop back out and catch the tire, takes more skill to do it right.

When cutting the only negative I've heard is it reduces the structural integritity of the fender. Is this true? Might mess up the paint but less likely then rolling, assuming a heat gun is used for both.

IMO, cutting your fenders is ghetto-rigging. Either get wheels that fit, or run a coilover system and adjust the height for clearance.

OK, so aside from the ghetto mod aspect of cutting the fender is there any other reason not to do it! I'm looking maybe more of physical reason.

Anyone? Bueller?

i have rolled all 4 corners of my fd. rolling the fenders will definitely be much stronger than cutting. you can roll the fender lip completely flush with the inside of the fender with minimal paint cracking (sometimes none!) i would imagine that cutting the fender will also result in a sharp lip too that might cut your tires if they hit it instead of a smooth one that you can get from rolling.

just roll the fenders it's quite reasonable to do or pay someone to do.
