Corbeau vs. Recaro vs. Sparco vs. ?

I'd love some personal opinions on these brands of seats regarding -

1. Ease of install
2. Comfort level (I know everyone's diff., but personal op. here)
3. Build quality (including weight)

Specifically, I'm looking at the Corbeau Carreras, the Recaro SRDs and the Sparco Torrinos.

Any thoughts on these or any comparable seats?

Thanks,

-E

4 years ago I bought a set of Corbeau Sport Seats with cloth covers, and while the support and comfort of the seats have been great, I have the following complaints:

The cloth on the bolsters have worn out and are starting to tear. When I called Corbeau about it, they said "Sorry, but they're off warranty. We've changed the style of the seats, so we don't make those covers anymore. If you mail the seats to us, we'll reduce the price of the custom re-covering." Of course, they're in Utah and I'm in NYC, so any $$ they saved me would be eaten up by the shipping costs. Gee, thanks a lot.

Their "custom fit" brackets suck, I had to cut them and weld in spacers to lower the seats. I'm 5'5" and I was hitting my head on the headliner.

1. None of them are easy to install...brackets are the problems
2. I have reclining Sparco's..very comfortable
3. No doubts in the quailty of the Recaro's you mentioned.
3a. The sparco's you mention have one issue...there are nice, but they cut corners of th design on the recline adjustment *****/level. This is one reason when I got sparco's I searched for the previous years model..lucky for me I found them.

Of your 3 choices..I would get either the recaro or sparco's..in that order..and remember I love sparco's..so that is saying something

Hey guys, thanks for the responses.

This is extremely helpful. Keep 'em coming. I imagine this'll be a good search find for those looking to compare these three in the future.

Looks like I'm leaning toward the Recaros, despite the price. I guess the saying is true...

i personally like sparco's better... I was just stating the the models you gave to choose from...well the recaros are better..

I have Sparco Supersports. (discountinued)...closest model is Milanos..they certainly were not cheap..~800-900 per..mainly because the are a suede leather material..but they are sweet....but the fitment was a struggle...the are a little too wide for the FD.

HOW BIG ARE YOU? I mean the seats should fit like a glove. I have a set of Corbeau's Targa RS's and they fit like a glove (i'm 5'6" 135 lbs ). So try them on if you can. the brackets SUCK..... let me re-phrase that...THE BRACKETS SUCK!!!!.. a friend also got a set of sparco and his brackets sucked as well.....save money and make your own. use the stock sliders. How heavy you are, will also determine how long the seats last. New seats also have a funny smell to them. It's good though.

Hey, I talked to the owner of Apex Performance (www.apexperformance.net), and he said that the only Corbeau seats that would fit right in the FC were the A4 and the Forza. He got this info directly from the president of Corbeau. His prices also are great...about $30 cheaper than retail price, and only $35 shipping for two seats to South Carolina from Utah.

a bit off topic.... but I think the Recaro seats on the J-spec Honda's Type Rs are really nice... I sat in once when I was back to Hong Kong for vacation a year ago, awesome!!!! But I am not sure if they fit in the FD/FCs

My Corbeau Forza's fit just fine in my 87 Turbo, brackets dropped right in. I'm 6'1" and don't hit my head ... they're comfortable enough for me and my Dad to do a Spokane to St Louis trip in 4 days and still be able to walk afterward

They're definatly a good deal at about $210 a seat.

(this coming from someone not known to skrimp on mods...)

the rz jap-spec recaros can be oredered, but the cheapest price i could get was from corksport at about $4000+ a pair. i would have put those in, because they are very nice. but $4000 is too much for seats.

I didn't even know they sold them aftermarket from last time I came along a "where can i get those pimp seats in the RZ yo!". Hmmmm

Do Corbeau Carreras fit in an FC? (although someone already stated only A4 and forza, just a hope)

Gordon,

Did you compare the Milanos to the Torinos by chance? I heard the Torino's side bolster hits the door, are the Milanos narrower? Or did the option of Alcantara sway in the direction of the Milanos?

TIA,

Mike

Define "perfectly"

I've heard 100 different stories from 100 different people and have yet to see an FD around here that even has aftermarket seats (though I don't see that many FDs period).

Do the shoulder bolsters not rub *at all*?

If they don't, I'm getting those seats.

BTW, nice write up in SCC.
