Anyone know of a completely round silver/chrome shift ****? Preferrably something that is screw on (vs. using the omg-drive-you-crazy set screws that Momo uses)? Something that looks like the one in the pic? Greddy has one similar, but the top is flat, and it says Greddy...don't like that. Also, I want the **** to be weighted...

So:
1) Silver/Chrome
2) Round, unlabeled
3) Screw on
4) Weighted

This is the one I've been eyeing...

But the thing is, not only do I have to worry about the set screws (ok I'll try thread lock), but also the ring on the underside of the **** ALWAYS comes loose. PISSES me off. I suppose I could use some plumber's tape on the threads, but it kirks me out nonetheless. Always rattling...

The thread lock you speak of...it like the plumber's tape I'm talking about? It hold it in place eternally? lol. Cuz nothing gets to me like trying to shift in the middle of a race, only to have the **** spin on you

Ramy, in my porsch I drilled three holes in the shift lever and used longer hex screws to mount my sparco shift ****. After that I never had a problem

Check www.aspecproducts.com, they make a round shift **** that is screw in like the stock OEM shift ****. BUt, they are kind of pricey.

Thread Lock also goes by Loctite. There are much bigger bolts with more tension on them in your engine bay using thread lock than what will be happening to your little shifter.

Theres what loctite looks like. Put a dab on the screws before you put them in and they wont come lose unless you unscrew them.

johgar, thanks for the link. Great find...I'm not too big on the multi-colored titanium **** tho (you get a little yellow and purple in various shades of light). And you're right, it's def quite pricey.

Always so helpful You'll be hearing from me soon enough w/ an update re: the wheels & offset Voodoo has a dealer right next to my house (Performance Buyer's Club), so I think that's the route I'm gonna go. I def. like how they offer diff sizes: 1.875" diameter or a larger 2.000" diameter. I got big hands (Trav, no comment lol).

I read through the website, but couldn't find if the ***** are weighted. Would you happen to know offhand? Def. like the feel of a round shift ****...just want a bit of bling and a nice weight to it too

The titanium & pearl look real nice. The polished looks BLING, but I think it'll look out of place in my interior, seeing that the headunit and steering wheel is more of a dull silver (not a polished look). Whatcha think?

I still pop in once in a while to throw a jab at you. I know you miss me. In any case, I just purchased a bling item for my s2k.


A lot of the s2k guys run that VooDoo shifter and love it. I was thinking about buying the polished black one they have now. The stock s2k **** is oval shape and doesn't really fit my grip to well.

Here is the weight of the s2k *****. Not sure if these constitute being weighted or not. Being that the transmission found in the s2k is superior to FD transmission, I can't fathom being able to improve on it.

Hey Ramy, no problem - what Fumanchu posted sounds like what they emailed me a long time ago. I never got around to asking if they could do stainless steel, I'm sure it would be heavier. I think a brushed/machined SS **** would look terrific with your setup too.

Keep me updated on the wheels, can't wait to see everything come together.

btw, nice steering wheel, i have the same exact one

do you have the horn hooked up? i hate driving my car knowing the a-holes in my town suck at driving, i have no defense at all without my horn..

Rob, yes the PFC does have a few readouts that overlap w/ the gauges, but I dunno about you guys...I thinkt he PFC is utterly unreadable during driving. I get glare all over the screen. And if you have anything more than 3 items on the screen, the lettering's so small you can't read it anyways. I like the gauges. I can glance quickly and know exactly how I'm doing, b/c I know where the needle should be at (don't even have to read the exact value). Plus, no BS here, I think it looks money

Oh and yes I have a horn hooked up. Run the stock horn wires to the horn button on the aftermarket steering wheel. Ground the horn wire behind the nut that secures the steering wheel to the steering column. It's your ground that's bad. Had the same prob.

Pat...I didn't know that. I'm toying w/ the idea of picking up a VERY good condition '83 944 with a blown motor. But I hear Porsches make RX-7s look like Hondas when it comes to repair and maintenance costs... =-/

Ha ha. lol. It's all good Damon. You should know by now that w/ my lambo doors, I don't care too much about criticism of my taste. I do what I think looks nice, cuz @ the end of the day, who's garage is the car parked in? And I think it looks BLING. Here's another shot:

Ramy, I did a lot of work on the car, but when the tranny went out that was freaking spendy...I sold it shortly after that.

I don't know about the whole cost thing though. There are a ton more aftermarket places for porsches and parts are sometimes cheaper. They are both expensive cars period

another good solution to the @#$@#$ set screws...

wrap top of shifter in packing/scotch tape.

get the 2 part epoxy that comes in a "stick"...where the center is one part and the outside is another...

mix a bit of the epoxy up in your fingers...shove in shift ****...stick on shifter handle.

let it cure.

your shift **** is now attached and fitted perfectly to your shifter. The packing/scotch tape will allow you to take it off any time you need...and a little bit of goo will make it go right back on solidly.

If anyone's interested, the titanium **** VooDoo makes is only in the smaller size. I want a bigger ****, so that leaves me w/ the alumnium one. Plus, the titanium comes polished only. Only the aluminum comes brushed (although you can spin the titanium if you really want to).

Titanium 1.875" diameter **** weighs about 8 oz.
Aluminum 1.875" diameter **** weighs about 4.5 oz
Aluminum 2" diameter **** weighs about 6 oz.
The stock RX7 **** weighs about a POUND (16 oz).

I ended up ordering the aluminum magnum (2" diameter) spun ****, and we'll see how it is. It's gotta be heavier than the Momo I have now, which seems to be a featherweight.

I'd really like the **** to be heavy (about a pound). Is it possible at all to maybe melt some lead or something in the inside of the ****? Anything to make it heavier? I'm sure there's a bit of room between the end of the threads on the **** and the top of the **** (from inside). Or worst case scenario, it'll still spin on, but sit just a tad bit higher. Possible?
