Cleaning stock R1 suede seats - any ideas?

Hey everyone -

My new-to-me '94 R2 has seats that are in excellent condition, but has what looks to be light staining on the seat bottom, either from sweat or from spilled drinks and whatnot.

What exactly is the material they made the seats out of? It feels like microfiber.

Anyhow, I want to get them cleaned up, and was planning on using a regular upholstery cleaner, but didn't want to make the situation worse. It's just such an odd material that I'm at a loss as to cleaning them.

Input is mucho appreciated!

Dale

That might be a good idea. Kind of hate to buy a steam cleaner just to clean the seats in the RX-7 once a year, though .

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

yeap steam cleaner will do the job very good at least it did for me. Just go and rent one, but is good to have one. You can also try using kind of the same principle with a wet vac, some HOT water and laundry soap if you don't want to get a steam cleaner. If you choose to do this use some fabric softener

When I fisrt bought my 94' Touring the carpets had a stale smell to them and my friends interior was rough from a reacent beach trip. So he and I split the cost of renting and removed the seats from both cars... steam cleaned the entire interior for say $15 each after soaps. It worked wonders on my carpets and I'm sure would be great for the R1 seats.

No ****!! This stuff is great. I laughed when my mother told me she had bought some off the TV.. " Haha you just got ripped off huge" I tried some on a light color carpet with ground in grease stains for years... took it out in 2 applications!! Awsome.

Also a steam cleaner as stated earlier is great too. And you can rent those for about the cost of the Oxy-clean
