Dashboard trim not CF covered but made entirely OUT of CF.

a cf wouldn't be able to work since it's not very strong to intrusion and shear forces i believe. Kevlar might work though?? hehe

I doubt kevlar is that much stronger, its much more resistant to penetration, but it can't really support anything. I could coat stuff out of it. I'll start making those other things as soon as I get a bit of money together. I have already made some stuff for a guy with a 240sx such as a dash kit, side pannels. We are planning on making a hood, front fenders, doors, and rear seats and more/full interior. Right now we got laying the CF on molds good but are now in the process of making molds for these items. (molds are a real bitch to make).

BTW: Would any one want a full rear hatch made out of CF? I can't bend lexan yet so the entire thing is gonna be made out of CF, if I do decide to make it.

Also, I'm planning on making some CF flame/exhaust rear bumper guards, kinda like these http://www.ksp-eng.co.jp/ATTAIN/menu2/5.html . I'll post pics of what ever I make if I ever do.

Keep the ideas comming, the more suggested, the more that will be made!

I could easily make full CF doors but im not sure that they will protect you in a crash (I'm nearly 95% sure that you will forsurely die if someone T-boned/broad sided you!), I could also reuse the old frames but I doubt you will save very much weight. Also, I don't got very many door's laying around so you would have to ship me your doors. Laying a layer of CF over the doors is pretty easy if all your going for is looks.

It's a 1989 240sx, you might have even seen this car in a Option Magazine (this guy is fully in to drifting and is not bad at it).

here is a pic of him and his car, he is the white guy

http://www.geocities.com/domestic_ki...risoption2.jpg

BTW: That camaro at the top of the pic is another one of my friends, he can consistantly pull off 85mph drifts in that camaro You might have seen him also in a car and driver artical about drifting in Hawaii

This would be easy to make, the only thing is that out of the 3 FD's I own, none came with a battery cover (can you believe that???) I might know someone that has the cover though, I'll keep ya informed.

I was just talking to a guy about the R1/touring front lip last night about it. Here's the thing, I could make it totally out of CF if you wanted but that means making a mold of it and that is a real bitch since I don't know of anyone that has got a nice front lip with out scratches on it. If I were to buy a new one and make copies of those, it would be ok but then I would have to charge you guys more for it. Then again, If I just layed a layer of CF over the front lip, it would be pretty darn easy to do. what do you think?

For the tray under the front bumper, would you like to see one made that looks how it does right now or just a flat pannel? The mold looks like a bitch to make if you want the original but then again, I saw a post in the 3rd gen section not too long ago where some one was making them out of fiberglass and he modified it so it had much more air going to the radiator.

For the strut bar, I think a metal one would work much better although I could wrap the metal ones in CF if you like. Also, Cusco already makes these and personnaly, I love the stock strut tower bar!

For the Intake, did you mean just the stock box or a aftermarket one like M2's one?

Also, I would suggest wrapping the intercooler pipes with the Carbonfiber, I don't think making them out of full carbon would give you any weights savings and I'm pretty sure they could not take the pressure.

Yeah the hardest part is making the mold. It has to be perfect. You would probably need to buy a new R1 lip and use it as a mold.

As for the under try, I think a flat panel would be the best way to do it. It would still work the same as the plastic one, but will be easier to make. It would be a pain to make it w/ all those bumps and what not.

Yeah, I meant an intake like the M2 one. The M2 one is nice, but too expensive. An inexpensive alternative would be great. Or maybe intake pipes that goes from the turbos to the filters. CF IC pipes would look nice. Idunno about pressure tolerances though. I was just thinking about looks.

Same w/ strut bars. Looks. I'm pretty sure it will sell though.

Not sure if this would be a good idea or not, but would kevlar bushings work?

i doubt it would work, kevlar does not have that much strenght and most of the stiffness comes from the epoxy/resin you use. Urathane or nylon would be much better, its too bad jimlab does not make another group buy...

I'm still holding 6 sets of bushings from the last "group buy" which didn't even reach the minimum 12 sets. I had to have 12 made (the only way it makes any financial sense at all) just to provide the ones that my two "licensed vendors" did sell, and I'm still upside down on the deal. I won't be doing another FD group buy, and in fact, these will probably be the last sets for the FD.

I've got a MKIII Supra GP in progress right now and I'm developing bushings for the MKIV Supra, with a couple more cars in the works.

But as long as we're talking about carbon fiber, if someone wants to make me a duct that seals a Koyo radiator to the front bumper opening (no A/C condensor, intercooler, or intake provisions) that'd be swell. I talked to Duane (CWR) about this over a year and a half ago and still don't have a duct.
