car pc gauges??
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to get a carpc/carputer to have gauges on screen like dashcommand, dashxl, etc? I think this would look a lot nicer than installing a bunch of aftermarket gauges all over the cockpit. Or maybe a simple conversion for the fc to become an obd2 vehicle for the gauges. If not then the fc ill be getting soon will just have to get a bunch of gauges all over the cabin.

There are much better options than trying to corrupt your car with OBD2 feces. Mazda refused to do it, which is why the FD wasn't offered after 1995.
Have you looked over on www.mp3car.com? It might give you some ideas. As for having virtual gauges, Haltech offers this through their Platinum Sport software. If you have a Haltech in your car, build a nice CarPC, then have the haltech connected to it and run the virtual gauges that way. Depending on your programming knowledge, running a frontend may be better in order to not screw anything up in the fuel/ignition maps.
With the right electrical, mechanical and programming knowledge, one could conceivably create a Car Control System similar to the one found in the Eunos Cosmo, and have it upgraded to include virtual gauges like in the R35 GTR, then take it one step further and have a diagnostic mode for the ECU to test all the inputs & outputs (found in the haltech software)

Alright cool. That sounds like a lot easier and nicer than an obd2 conversion. The plan is when I get my hands on an fc building it as a drift car and that deffinetly seems like it'd make things in the build I'm planning easier. Thanks!
