STOP MAKING FUN OF CRASHUNIT, PEOPLE!

As for that pic, it has a custom widebody front end (bumper + fenders) and holes cut into the hood w/no headlights. That pic was taken @ last yrs 7stock, right?
If you remove all the stickers, I don't think the wing would fit in anymore (in my opinion), but I don't like cars all "sticker'd out"

carbonfiber, fiberglass who cares? picky eh?

I'm not discussing what the car is made out of. all I'm saying is that even though it is not stock it essentially follows the original lines of the FD (yes it has a custom widebody front end (bumper + fenders) and holes cut into the hood w/no headlights but it still follows the original lines)

Ok the pic maybe wasn't the best choice but it was the closest 'looking' stock FD with a wing that I have seen. All other FD's with wings have the full on body kits that change the car's beautiful lines and the finished product hardly looks like an FD.

All I'm saying is that if a car could pull off a wing, it would be the FD even in stock form (exterior). Would I put one on mine, probably not. Well maybe, if I had the power to back it up and if I could find one that was half the size of the one I posted.

I don't know. Do you:

1. Drive the car on high-speed road circuits?

2. Have the appropriate front-end aerodynamic pieces to ballance that large rear wing?

3. Have the appropriate engine, braking, wheel/tire mods to need that extra grip, AND have actually set up the car to the degree that you are sure that downforce is actually necessary and beneficial?

4. Have the skills necessary to actually realize the few extra 10ths of a second in lap times it may yeild?

Yes to all? Then no, it isn't gay.

How they hell did I make it into this thread? But then again my car is pretty extreme, hate it or love it, its my car, so screw those who dont like it . I dont see any pics of my car here, but since I was brought up now, I guess I should voice my opinion....

It all depends on how the car is set up and if it is functional or not, some people hate it, some people love it, all depends on the car and the person. If the car is stock looking, I dont think it looks right, however if that person can and does drive there car pretty hard and needs the extra Down force, then so be it. I drive my car pretty aggessively and do find it useful, plus I was going for the JGTC look with my car as well (double purpose), so thats why its on my car. If you think its gay, then dont put one on, simple as that.

Hate me if you want, but I drive a Honda right now. A 99 Accord to be exact, nothing goofy done to it, 1.75 inch drop, 18 inch C2's and that's about it for the exterior. It was just a much more practical car for me at the time of purchase. I was an 18 year old high-school senior at the time, a 7 just wasn't something I could take on at that point.

The norm in my area is that every kid driving a Civic, DSM, Neon, whatever, just HAS to have a monster aluminum wing slapped on it. Not even a well-built one, but your basic, run of the mill, ebay "buy it now" $50 variety. I guess that downforce on the rear wheels of a FWD is just something I don't get, probably never will either. The thing I get MOST confused about though with this aspect of ricerdom is what about one of these wings means that your 130 HP Civic is now a supercar? When the wing is installed, does it automatically mean you drive an F1, can smoke anything on the road, and have to sit in the seat leaning back at a 30 degree angle? I guess I just don't get it.

I do admit though, I did have an aluminum wing on one of my cars once that was bigger than any wing any of you have ever seen on any Civic or other rice-mobile. Of course the car was a Sprint car powered by a 410 V8, but that's a whole 'nother issue.

The funny thing is (and you KNOW this will be true):
In 5-10 years from now, people will be doing all sorts of unimaginable things to their cars, which will make the whole 'Altezza' lights, giant wing, etc a phase that people remember fondly.
It was clear taillights before that
It was "candy-apple red' taillights before that

The NEXT generation will be the ones to truly shake our heads at

I think it depends. By itself, an aluminum wing looks tacky on a stock car. But with a nice ground effects kit, nicer wheels, etc... it can look really sharp! Accessorizing cars is just like picking out clothes: one nice piece doesn't make the outfit. You look as dumb wearing $1000 Italian loafers with Wal-Mart blue jeans as you do putting a wing spoiler on your stock Cavalier.

With that said, I leave you with this picture. <flame suit on..>

Actually, the wing on the M3 isn't that tall, it's just the camera angle. It sits a good deal lower than the roof line, and isn't that wide either. Looks great in my opinion, but a lot of German-car conoseurs' look at it with absolute horror!

I saw a Z06 couple days ago. It was dark blue and was slammed to the ground.

The rear had a diffuser and the same wing that they install on the Le Mans Vettes.........

yeah definetly rice.... i was thinking.. if u have a real crappy 88 green 4-door civic with altezas, a 70 doller muffler, and a big *** aluminium wing, (cant forget the glow-in-the-dark pedals and matching shift ****.) thats rice... but if u have a really nice car.. say a '95 FD with 450rwhp.. wouldn't it be General Tso's Chicken or something? Also about the third or fourth reply in this forum.. how the hell is a Mazdaspeed GTC wing a big *** aluminum wing?

The GT-C is pretty small and I think it's wind tunnel tested
