Audio: Upgrading, N00b needs help
I'm looking to replace the POS Pyle radio thats in my FC with a better head unit and also to replace the speakers. My FC is a vert S4. My ambition is just to have a good deck that plays MP3 CDs load and clear enough to enjoy with the top down on the highway.
I have been looking at Alpine head units and boston speakers, but I know I'm not a pro so I'm gonna post on the borads to get some good feedback.
The local place for good audio that I know of is Tweeter (tweeter.com), but I'm open to suggestions. I work for the local government here and I still have college classes I'm taking so I don't have a huge amount of cash to draw from. That being said I appreciate an advice on saving money too.
Thanks in advance

I'd recommend the Alpine CDA-9827. I've got it in my FC and it works great with MP3 and very easy to operate and find specific songs fast (if you take some time when you make your CDs with folders etc.). The only time I've had it skip was when I drop over this huge pothole that I didn't see. I drive on some pretty rough roads in Iowa and that's the only time I've had it skip.
The CDA-9830 is the next model up and it's got crossovers, and 4 channel digital time correction. If you're going to put components in I don't think you need the crossovers because I think components usually come with crossovers.
I love my CDA-9827. I've never heard boston speakers as the place I buy at doesn't have then but Alpine Type-S (what I've got) and Infinity Reference both sound good at a reasonable price. One step up I'd recommend Infinity Kappa then Alpine Type-R.
Hope this helped a little.
