I went with the standard dual 12" box, Which is convenient and cheap. For added security I have the box bolted to the steel in two places. I also used special "key" type screws to hold the subs in place. Same thing with the amplifier and crossover. An alarm with a shock sensor would be a good idea.
Im a Sub Snob, and recommend nothing but old school PPI (Precision Power)
I am currently running:
2 PPI PRO Flat Piston Subwoofers <---- Best Subs Ever Made, and i've had them all
PPI 1200A Art Series Amplifier
PPI 4200AM Art Series Amplifier (Black Series)
PPI crossover

I have the stock speakers (in good shape) and a Alpine IDA-X001 head unit And a mtx 600xd mono block with a 12" Type R in a Ported 1.32 cubic foot box (custom made by me) Its only 500Rms and i can be heard comeing from a block away.....Soon to have another TYpe R so it will be 1000rms......Possibly my best set up i can put it all the way up i dont have any kind of distortion.

I had a nice full setup in my last fc. I would reccomend not using the cargo bins. They wont sound so great and personally I think they are ugly. The system in my car now is 50% done.
All you need is a single jl8w7, ported box, 700-1000watt amp, voltage regulator or bigger alternator to have some extreme bass. My single 8 can be heard from about 200 yards away. The spl levels it produces hurt your ears yet it sounds nice since its a jl. I'll see if I can get pics. I'm planning on pulling all this. The box and sub weigh in around 70lbs. I'm working on returning everything to stock.
Oh and my hatch is limo black. cant see a thing.

Good reason to upgrade your alternator. or get a voltage regulator(stable 14.5v running and loud).

I had two 10" kicker L7's with a mdf box that was built into the storage bins. They stuck out about 5 inches but i made the box flat on top so it looked flush. Then I made an amp rack where the spare tire goes that bolted where the bolts too. The box was carpeted black so it blended in very well and you could'nt see the amp or any wires so it looked great and sounded great. I was pushing them with an old Rockford Fosgate power 1001bd amp. I wish I had pics. I sold that set up last year because I want to build something lighter.
