Anyone have a pic of an FD with black side skirts on red car?
I have an R1 front air dam and a pair of side skirts on the way to me, and I am wondering what my red FD would look like if I painted the skirts to match the black air dam?
Anyone have a picture of an FD with a black air dam and side skirts on a non-black car?
Thanks!

i dont think it would look all that great. you would probably be better off painting your r1 lip the color of the car instead of the other way around. if you paint you skirts black, it will make your car look even higher on the sides, instead of lower to match the lip, which is the look i think youre going for.

I think it's gonna be sick yo! Except my skirts are gonna be carbon fiber... looking black from far away. Carbon fiber lip, carbon fiber skirts, and carbon fiber diffuser. It's all in my head.. hopefully coming soon. Plain black... i'm not so sure about. It's kinda like a stock integra/civic with black side skirts. People usually paint them anyway or get aftermarket ones

trust me man, you dont wanna do it, unless you are fading it from black to a dark brandywine red up top like towards the window level, that might look badass. but as far as just painting the sideskirts and leaving the rest of the car red, i dont think it will turn out the way you expect it to. your car will look really high up because the black area will not stand out as being a part of the car. i visit the audi forums frequently, and it is common for the guys there with stock a4 bodies to paint their "lowers" since it makes the car look that much lower and nicer.
i would advise against it. even if you want to leave the r1 lip black, i doubt painting the skirts black will make them match any better. if anything, you will just make the front of the car look like it has a really bad underbite. if you really want to look different but still look slick, id say go for a fade from black to a dark brandy pearl, but still dont do it so low by the sideskirt. good luck buddy.

Guys, thanks for all your advice and suggestions!
I guess I'm gonna paint the used R1 lip with the rubberized black coating and then add the side skirts, without rear or read side skirts, before I have the rest of the car painted.
So, it is gonna be all red with a black R1 lip for me.....

You know, it really depends on the sideskirts you have. Take the Feed ones for example.
Since they don't wrap around the body, you know these would actually look good painted black.
If you got sideskirts that wrap around the body like the Cwest ones
I think anyone would agree that it would probably look pretty dorky painted black.

I think it'll look nice. I'm going for the red/black all around. Im nearly half way there and will need the FEED sides thingies and a black rear diffuser to complete my exterior look.
