Anyone ever use Hi-Tech paint to change color of carpet?
Hey everyone:
Just wondering if anyone has ever had experience with this product to change the color of their carpet. I have tan carpet now, and I want to switch to black but have a limited budget. I was thinking, since I'm going from a light color to a dark color that if this product works, it might be OK. The product says it won't crack or anything, and says it can be used to change the original color. I was just looking for something to hold me over until I get the $$ to buy new carpet (or used from someone here). What do you think?

I just did my carpet two weeks ago using zerobanger's method. It took 10 cans of black dupli-color paint and about 2 billion brain cells, but it turned out pretty nice. Make sure to use a piece of metal to brush back the carpet as you paint...getting the fibers deep down. Good luck.

That stuff isn't paint, it's a dye. You paint wood, metal, plastic's etc, and you dye fabrics and carpets etc. I'm still skeptical but as long as it is a quality dye it should be ok. Note, most dyes are very difficult to remove if you get them on your skin, and Analine (sp?) dyes are dangerous too, use proper safety (gloves, respirator, goggles, condoms, you get the picture )
