Lightbulb Anybody using Boston Pro 6.5-3 in FD?

Just got my insurance chack and was about to drop some 4" Diamond Adio's in the front Bose box but was thinking of Boston's 3-way with the 6" in the rear panels. I know i'd need custom install for the rear.

Anyhow, I hate Titanium tweeters and love silk tweets but the Boston's are aluminum...are they in between or closer to titanium?

Oh, and has anyone tried this setup allready?

I have the 6.5s in my doors. I think they are very well balanced/natural sounding, but next to impossible to fit at/near the stock bose door locations. The magnet is right up against the window when fully retracted. This summer I'm going to have a shop create a custom mount that protrudes through the door panels. Before I installed them I had BA 5.4s(predecessor to the current 5.5s). They fit much better and are pretty close in terms of sound quality(giving up a little bass of course). Personally if I had it to do over again I'd stick with the 5.5s.

I have a bose box on the door and the depth is just shy of 2", so only 4" speakers fit unless I get rid of the box. The 6" woofers would mount in the rear corners behind the seats but i'd need something custom for that since touring doesn't have speaker gills nor mounts there. I don't know what the doors look like on a base or R1/R2 models.

How do you like the tweeters? I have MB Quarts and I can't stand Titanium tweets! Are they soft or bright? The real test is in the car, not the showroom.

I have a set of 6.5^3 for the front sitting on my floor waiting to go in to the car. I have used to have the 5.4s as well. MB Quartz are very bright compared to the Boston's. Most people that I take on listening trips to demo spearkers like either one but not both. Heavy Metal guys or super techno guys usually like the MB's better because of the very bright tweeters. Overall music lovers like the Boston's ... esepecially guitar players. Dynaudio is really good and not as bright .. I'm a drummer and I LOVE THEM for the low bass they give. However the Boston's rule at guitar and vocals so they edge the Dyaudio's for me.

Talking Thanks SpyFish

I thought about Dyn Audio and Focals and they are clean but not much bang for the buck though.

The Diamond Hex are sweet with the silk tweets and the 4" mid is < 2" deep, so it just drops in the Bose box.

I'm not heavy metal. I like Ska, alternative and classic rock and sometimes some soft jazz.

Are you going to mount the 6" woofers in the rear panels? ...if so, i'm dying to know how it turns out (fitment and sound)!
