Talking aftermarket stereo using original amps?

Has anyone been able to use the original equipment amps with aftermarket stereos. Seems like they should be able to hook up. I would like to be able touse the factory fader etc.

are you talking about a FC???

If so, most of the FC amps are designed to use a 7 watt input signal. The few amps such as the woofer amp for the doors, use a standard .5 volt (or low level) signal, but with propriatory plugs, that you would need to custom build adapters for.

Of course many of the modern High Power aftermarket radios have considerably more power output than 7 watts and many have a low level output of 4 volts, which would way over drive the stock amps creating massive distortion.
