'99 Spec Bumper Kit

Is there anything special about installing subject bumper. The paint shop that did the install work was unable to complete the effort since the spoiler lip wouldn't attach properly. In addition, I noticed that the undertray doesn't match up with the bumper and/or lip. Am I supposed to use a '99 spec undertray for this application? If so, who offers this piece?

Thanks in advance!

I'm wondering that too since I'm headed that way after my motor gets rebuilt but you might want to ask this in the interior/exterior/audio section.

Oh, good point. Let's see if I can somehow maneuver this thread over to the proper section.

When you convert to the '99 Spec front bumper, there are some differences from the US model. You should buy the '99 front spoiler to match. It will fit perfectly. The undertray is different as well. Those are all things that you should research beforehand.

(Haven't figured how to move this post over to the Interior/Exterior section. Sorry.)

Bought the kit as a set, and was told by RP-Garland that the parts were OEM. So I didn't expect any major issues.

Saw some info on the undertray for the first time after researching a thread showing pics of the '99 spec converted FDs. Thinking this might be part of the problem. But nowhere have I found that this piece is required for proper fitment of the new assy from the various outfits who sell the kit (as best that I can tell).

And, of course, was told that I didn't need a wiring harness for the combo lights, but Ari offered to fix this for me by sending in the original connection.

What exactly is preventing the lip from attaching? It should not be a problem at all with the OEM pieces but you never know. Also, hardly anyone seems to make the switch to the 99spec undertray, you should be able to get the 93-95 undertray to work just fine. If you want to go down that path then Corksport has them...

and yeah you will either need to splice some wires to get the 99spec signals to work or have RP send you an adaptor. Knightsports makes them...

Yep, had previously seen the adapter offered by fdnewbieimports. But I can't seem to get those guys to get back with me so that I may purchase the darn thing. I'm sure they are very busy, though. Thought I had seen it from another site as well, but perhaps not since I can't locate it on the internet.

I'm going to see if I can't get something made myself this week just in case I don't hear back from Ramy. At worst, Ari at RP told me to send it to him so he can fabricate a harness for me. I suggested that they should source some and/or offer the replica combo lights as an alternative to help avoid situations like these.

I'll PM you the info on the paint job, etc. They did a really good job for the most part. I did notice some paint overspray on what looks to be like an oil cooler I think (driver's side air duct). It seems to be in the way if I were to go with the fog lights so I'm not sure if this was supposed to be relocated or not (I don't see it in photos in other '99 spec conversions.)

Anyway, thanks again!

i believe that Jason at rx7store sell replica lights that require no splicing.
