3rd gen head light conversion

Does anyone know why the headlight conversion for the 3rd gen Rx cost so much?? Most kits I've seen cost somewhere around $1000. I can't figure out why. Or does anyone know of a place to buy them for cheaper.
Thanks,
Kevin

Everything for the FD is expensive. Get used to it.

The cheapest sleek light kit (and probably the one with the best lighting) is here:

http://www.rotaryextreme.com/sleeklight.html

The easiest sleek kit to install is the C-West kit. The others require cutting to get them installed (AFAIK).

Trust me, I know how expensive 3rd gen parts are, I've had mine for 5years, but I think that $1000 for new head lights is a bit exsessive, don't you?

It really doesn't matter what we think of the price. That's how much they cost. There are a lot of things I think are more expensive than what they should be, besides FD parts. That's not going to change how much they cost though.

Personally, I hate sleek light kits. I like the pop-ups. If/When I do upgrade my lights, it will be the Knight Sports kit:

Excessive to say the least but considering there arent a lot of FD's out there and even less buying the kits, they have to make some profit from all the R&D and time to make them. They don't sell in volume so the individual costs are up.

That knightsport kit is sweet.

I'd buy one in a heartbeat, if they made one in HID... If I'm going to drop 1.3K on a headlight kit I want it to look "NEW" or current, besides I feel a bit intimidated by the HID's especially when you're pushing you, and I want that when I'm pushing other people
But I agree Knight Sport is sweetness for Pop Ups, just not with HID, and I hear the beam pattern is worse than the stock headlights with Halogen (Blue-ish) headlights.

Yeah all the light kits seem to be really expensive. Are there any kits out there that have hids? If not how long is it going to take to get a kit. Maybe one of us should start looking into it. If we had the money.

Hell yeah. The knightsports kit is the first one I'm going with too. I love the sleepy headlight look.

I was thinking of making my own kit, more or less a copy of the Knightsports-kit.
But I'm worried about one thing and that is the pop-up engines..
Are the stock ones adjustable, or do these kits come with modified engines?

I remember some time ago that someone on the forum was makink there own conversion. You might do a search in the 3rd gen section on headlight conversion, you should find a couple threads on him doing his own. I'm pretty sure he said once he finished it he would start making them for us. Good luck.
