Whats the speaker sizes for a stock ( or R1) 3rd gen ?
I intend to upgrade but I am not sure whats what....

i beleive that the front speaker are 6.5. If that's not it, well it is possible to fit 6.5 because that is what i have in my car. I suggest you to go with a mid-tweet combo, much better sound.

As for the rear speakers, i beleive they are something like 6x8, not 5x7 or 6x9, they are 6x8 or 5x8 or an other weird size, just to make sure that a replacement one won't fit perfect...

what i suggest is to change for a 6.5 round one, just need to do the right bracket.

(you should be think about an amp too, something like 4x50w)

Front size id 5.25 fits some 6.5 depends on magnet size. Rears are 5x7. If you're going to upgrade for better sound quality and image just unplug the rear speakers and get a good set of components for the front. It'll sound great.

Don't forget that there is a 3.5" Center Chanel spkr in the Dash.

 

The center dash speaker is only included in the Touring Package that had the Bose System.

I have replaced all of my speakers with the following:

Doors: Boston Acoustic Pro 6.5's (Mounted the tweeter on the little black triangle piece just opposite the side view mirrors)

Rear: Boston Acoustic Rally 6's (Had to make a mounting bracket to fit behind the stock grille. These are round and replaced 5 x 7's)

Hatch: Vega Sub Tube w/ 200w alpine amp

H/U is Kenwood XC815

All of the fine tuning for the speakers including the sub can bw handled from the H/U
