CA How many posts to unlock all sections of the forum?

I was wondering, if we need 5 posts to see people's signatures and videos, how many posts in all do we need so that all sections of the forum could be unlocked for us to post in?

- 3 posts to PM
- 5 posts to be able to reply in all of the New member sections and most of the regular boards
- 10 posts to be able to reply or place your own ad in any of the Classifieds boards
- 50 posts to play in the deviant background play-yard of the Lounge. We delete anything we see posted under that count
- 100 posts to go somewhere different.
See rules regarding requesting "Full Access" and the criteria we're looking for to grant it...I forgot where it's buried in the rules, so you're going to have to research the matter yourself.

Ahhhh....but the posts in the Lounge don't count, so hit the South Forum and tell everyone how you'll "for sure" make this monthly rotary meet and not show up...again...I do it all the time.

It looks like I'll go the whole year and have only made one of them.

I never understood the restrictions based on post. What's the purpose if I may ask?

I just found out 20 are required to post new thread in 3rd gen section. Guess I need to get busy and add my $.02 to some threads. Never had much need to post as much infomation is found by a search and covered rather well. Have seen too many get responses "search" so that did add to my relutance to post. It is what it is and I alway play by the rule, yea right.

The reason for that is that anyone under 15 or so posts hasn't been around for long and we don't want them in the regular tech sections asking questions that have been answered already a million times. We want them to do those kinds of things in the New Member tech section where it is understood that everyone participating in there is not supposed to reply "Search!"

If you catch anyone doing that, hit the Report button and I'll straighten them out.

It's to stop, dead in their tracks, all the scammers, spammers and peeps we have banned for various reasons. It's also to stop, dead in their tracks, anyone joining just to unload their car or pile of junk or link a thread to eBay or craigslist. This website is not an online classifieds service. The classifieds section is a service for the regular membership and is a privilege extended to them. We don't want people joining just to unload and then leave, their post count stuck at 12 posts forever because they pulled the scam and we'll never see them again.

Read Sgt Fox's Rules for posting and it's all there. For that matter, just read the index for the Introduce Yourself board and there's another clue how to build that count that passes the LEGITIMATE post criteria. It's not hard at all. Really. Just avoid the mishaps mentioned in Sgt Fox's rules and you'll be fine.

What about people that want to buy something from a member that came up in a Google search but you can't access the classified post because you don't have 10 posts. Could have been a quick sale for a member. I am about to buy a rotary to put in a dune buggy as well, so that isn't the only reason I am here...

Nope, we don't want that either. The situation I mentioned above was exactly that. Some guy joined just to buy something. He broke every rule and made the "fatal" mistake of trying to leave negative feedback on a established member when the guy didn't drive 50 miles to deliver the part when he said he might be able to. Seller said he called to let the noob know he couldn't make it and the guy left the bad feedback anyway despite not even buying anything. The new member got banned for three days explaining all the things he did wrong and I removed the negative feedback on the Seller....it was the ONLY negative feedback that guy had. You know the sad part?

That marked the third time I've had to do that...because a guy joined just to buy something he found here.

Yea, we don't want that. Don't join just to buy something. Don't join just to sell unless you're ready to pony up a monthly $75 vendor fee.

Join because you love the cars and the engine and want to learn and share.

I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!! for sure this post limit thing is a pain, but i am a total FAN!! and i haven't even met my post limits yet, i love the stringent rules, that keep this forum healthy and may i say...light weight in a manor (certainly not from an information standpoint) of not having a bunch of junk posts with a bunch of idiots with no clue what there talking about, just want to rip people off ect. i just hope i don't fall victim to the rules haha. my grammar isnt the best so i expect i will get told about that from time to time :-(

i gotz my 52 posts so i'm not feeling any pain from the post rule, just wish someone had my part at a 'not-rip-off' price.

what's with notsostock7 still at 5 posts anyway??

Good, been trying to post in my area section and wondering how I can get enough posts to talk in my own NW section, and wanted to look at the cars for sale in my area cuz I want to start a wankel project, and figure out where the meets are around Oregon.
