Haltech My turn for E6X problem
#26
I think a 2 month turn around might be a bit extreme. Probably beacue you guys got them stuck in customs. Mark the package under US$500 and "goods being returned to manufacturer for repair"
i sent one to haltech the other week and i got it back in 4 days. ( freight was 2 of them, obviously freight will take longer to the us)
and as for you MrRx, "they just need to recall all the e6x's and replace the reclutor" ...
Firstly the reluctor is the thing is your distributer... The Relucotor adaptor is the thing in the ECU. You knowing this shows you would have no clue about what is actually inside the E6X's and should probably not comment on it.
Oh, Mazda should just re-call all rotors and make them more reliable.... ... ... ...
(as much as i love rotors!)

actually,
The haltech has an internal reluctor. not a reluctor on the distributer which I dont even have, which shows how much you know about 3rd gen rx7's.
Its a known fact that the e6x's internal reluctor does have issues with the stock 3rd gen CAS.
I remember to ask for you, next time I need any usefull insight into the haltech.

Mr RX p51020b is Right it is called an "Internal Reluctor Adaptor" is the chip inside the E6X and it is again called and "Internal RA Reluctor Adaptor"
As for the two month turn arround time... well I sent my june 28th, I got an email saying someone at Haltech Aus. signed for the package on Jul 5th. So on aug 23nd I get an email saying it will be shipped today... then on sept 10th I receive it here. Sure Customs has somethign to play in it, but I don't think it was that much, I very well may have been that they were busy, however I do think that the turn arround time sucked because It meant tha my car wasn't seeing any summer time this year
But in the End I stuck with Haltech and am still working out some of the tunning bugs I have but so far soo good... also haltech made an error assembling my wiring loom and mispinned one of the wires that lead to a few months of frustrations.

thanks for correcting me without being an ***
Its acutally kind of strange I went out tonight after reading some on the forum, fixed my coils and so forth, and she started right up, dosent idle well, but she does start, it weird becuase not only 1hr ago it wouldent even pick up the trigger.
all i did was check the gounds and they were all fine.
but I suppose all in all it works, now i just need to her tuned.
then I can be the first running T25 twin turbo rx7. or possible the second if jason beats me.

I wouldnt progress until you identify what changed, you don't want that magical variable going back to it's previous (no trigger signal earlier today) state while you're tuning boost on the dyno.
If the grounds are all you messed with, try reproducing the failure by playing with them more, it would be really annoying to just have it resurface at the worst possible time.
Just my $.02, maybe you know more about what was going on than you've mentioned in the thread, but based on what I see here I'd be concerned. Maybe you can undo what you fixed and see if the problem comes back, and isolate exactly what makes it work

Is there an easy way to open the connector at the haltech to check the wires to ensure they are in the right order?
Looks like a complete pain in the *** to open it or did you just test the resistances from the other end?

yeah, you just have to pop up the three tabs on the connector, its pretty simple, I did notice a few crossed grounds in the harness, for example the tigger and home grounds should be 26 and 26, I belive, mine were 7 and 8...so I think I might have a mispined harness wouldent that be fun trying to get out now...lol
ahh, looks like jason beat me to it, he got their twin kit runing first!, ::sigh::

Well, thus far i've had absolutley zero luck getting any contact from Haltech. I don't know what to do, i've emailed several different contacts from their site, i've waited until what should be their business hours to call, left messages for them to email me, nothing. I understand that customer service to someone in the states might not be their top priority...but man, this is rediculous.

What kinda questions are you bombarding them with?

Good to hear you got it running.

this same thing has randomly been happening to me. My ex6 had been running alright since i rebuilt 2 months ago and it isnt tuned yet. then all of a sudden one night i went out to start my car and i was getting no engine speed, it would bump for one second then stop any recognition of engine speed, like the haltech was just deciding to turn off. after about a half hour of bumping it, i got engine speed and it started up. that was two weeks ago and it hasnt happened since until a few days ago, but after two trys it started again. I daily drive my 7 w/e6x and this worries me, if mine has any internal probs and i have to send back. why does mine work most of the time and your e6x's dont work at all

I've contacted their US rep as well as their AUS reps via both email and phone. I'm not bombarding them with any questions, I just don't want to send my unit back for repair without giving them any notice or talking to them. I'm sure they have specific instructions for service pieces, thats all i want.

Finally spoke with them. Very helpful and nice once I got through. I don't mean to speak bad about Haltech, it's really a wonderful tuning tool, just hard when they're on the other side of the planet.

Just an update-
Yesterday we did one last effort to get it started.
I removed the cas and moved the pick-ups insanely close. When you rotate the cas it feels different as it's notchy now b/c the magnets are pulling hard (no it's not hitting).
I think this is a good idea for people to do.
That didn't fix the problem.
I then switched the gain to 7. After a few cranks it started to catch. After a few more the car started. We then shut it down.
Tried to start it again after closing the haltech software on the window....... Wouldn't start.
Put gain to 5 then back to 7. It started again. We shut it down and started it up about 6 times in a row with no problem what-so-ever on first crank.
After taking the key out and shutting down the halwin software ...... guess what....... it wouldn't start again.
Then we jumped the car. It spun significatly faster yet didnt' pick any signal up at all.
I still want to check the pins but we didnt' spend too long working on it.
Atleast we had it running for a bit

Had me pretty elated for...uuhmm..i'd say 5 minutes, which lead to probably an even bigger letdown when it started to not pick up the rpm's once again. So frustrated. Hopefully will be able to send back the ecu tonight/tomorrow.

61 isent bad, I was reading around in some of the older post about the e6k, something im thinking about trying is reinstalling the old stock hardness and making an adapter like the kd2r one. that would fix and noise issues with the cas, just a thought.
Ive already made a list of what goes were, if anyone is interested.

carguy34, how are you plug and plug wires? that seems like a "weak" spark symptom more so than a Haltech symptom.
and no it was more than just the reuluctor that needed replacing there were 4 chips that were returned to me as proof of what was wrong... so getting those I would assume would most likely be fairly challenging to get ahold of.

Ok, bummer that it was more than just the reluctor adapter. The problem is that I don't get a trigger signal (tach signal) until I hit about 300 RPM. Occasionally I will get a signal below that, but not for long enough to start the engine (Maybe two pulses). The plugs are brand new and I haven't tested the wires, but I'm sure that they are fine. I have a new set of Taylor plug wires waiting to be made, but I haven't done it yet. I agree that the parts were going to be hard to get ahold of, but I figured it would still be cheaper than paying $150 in shipping, if that is in fact my problem. Back to the drawing board.....

casey said it was only 61 bucks and that they paid for return.
Have you check your wiring harness to see if any pins were switched?
