Haltech My turn for E6X problem

My turn for E6X problem
Problem -
No rpm while cranking engine (randomly picks up sometimes).
Tried-
Removed cas -spun by hand (disconnected starter wire) and logged it perfectly.
I knew grounding was a concern before this but after this I took it to town. Two 4 guage wires on block - one connected to shock tower (sanded of course) and one to fire wall.
I logged voltages also and seemed to be about 10v while cranking (sometimes dipped below to high 9's). The last log after the massive reground process i didn't look. It picked up rpms on a 9.8v but not at a 10.2v before the regrounding.
The haltech ground wire is connected at the shock tower with one of the 4ga ground (other end is connected on the rotor housing itself).
The gound near the harness/haltech is ran back into into the engine bay and grounded at other 4ga hear winshield wipers.
The only thing I can think of is too small of battery and not enought CCA. I could try my redtop later.
Any thoughts?

your E6X issues
Have you tried to datalog to see if you are getting an ignition signal??
It's not clear to me where your E6X is grounded.
I would highly recommend your E6X ground be tied directly to the battery as well as it's power lead (through the relay of course)
Better yet - if your battery has top and side posts....
If you are using the top posts, use the side posts for the E6X. It can potentially give you a few tenths of a volt during cranking.

I haven't tried ignition b/c it shouldn't give one unless it picks up a rpm.
While spinning it by hand I would hear the clicking of the injectors and most likely the ign sparking (have seen a spark - it use to give one spark at start and end of cranking engine over- haven't check since).
It was grounded directly to battery at first. Battery was then relocated during the grounding upgrade.
It almost seems like it has to be a voltage problem b/c it works great with out the starter turning the engine over.
gains are set to 2 and filter on 2.

The grounds are kinda long but grounded really well (firewall/shock tower). I should shorten only one of them up? It would prolly be the one by the ecu that i would shorten up.
Anyone think it could be battery? It's kind of a small one. It's fully charged when doing this. I'll try my redtop next time Im over work'n on the car.

when I was cranking my car for the 1st time, I had to keep another car on the (small) battery also.
after she fired on her own and I was able to load the alt...things were fine and still are.
worth a shot.

I had a similar problem with my haltech dead out of the box, you might want to check with haltech and pay for the phone call and then they will lead you though alot of stuff to go through... and in the end they will most likely ask you to send your haltech to AUS.

I'll fight this for a bit longer before I go that route and try a few more things.
I bought the unit used off a working car from a forum member and am using it for someone else's car. I think the ecu is fine. Everything else works great as it is suppose to. Just when the voltage dips it get's lazy. Maybe put a 1farad cap in

I hooked the haltech to a seperate power source and tried it.
It got a constant 16v and still wouldn't pick up rpm.
I think the only thing left is the engine speed. I"ll try putting my redtop in later this week and try it.
maybe the cas is wore a bit and providing a weak signal at low rpm as spinning it by hand was much faster than what the engine was turning over at.

yup mine would do it as long as I spun it by hand fast... but slow Ie Cranking speed... it owuld not pick up a thing... yours is showing the exact same symptoms as mine.

well, it looks like we are going to have to send it back to haltech. Troubleshot from about every possible angle and came up with the same result. My question is, how much did it end up costing you in both repair costs and shipping? Just curious, thanks.
