how much HP gain?

I am just about ready to order the haltech sprint RE with harness. I have a 84 GSL-SE with an S5 intake. I will be eliminating the AFM and distributor and upgrading to the 2nd gen coils. I am wondering how much hp gains can be made just by eliminating the AFM and dizzy and with good tuning?

depends on if those parts where restrictions.

you may make no more hp, you may make a lot more. who knows. too many factors to say exactly.

while numbers may be tough to give, having full control of your timing will allow you to be more accurate and make better power throughout all RPMs. How much power you make will be locked up in your tuning capabilities.

If you decide to keep just two injectors at least your tuning will be easy as you won't have to worry about staging.

I to was thinking of this on my 85 SE. Install S4 intake and 4 S4 injectors and the CAS. I installed a complete RB system and removed the ACV and airpump. the mid range sure improved, but smoothness in low throttle positions seems to have suffered. Certain RPMs seem a little unstable. I was hoping to get it running with the RE system, dyno tune it. Than next year when I have the S5 TII engine built, the wiring work would be done. Be intesting to see the diff from NA to TII on the dyno.

Yeah, now I'm torn between getting the ECU and harness, or using that money to do a rebuild with a big streetport?

and Pinapple inserts as well. Did you get the VDI working? heard that is a rush when it opens.

Yeah, already have pineapple inserts, and the VDI has been working via RPM switch. I received the Sprint RE ECU today with the harness. I can't do the swap yet, cuz I'm waiting for resistors that I have to use for my low impedance injectors. I still need a wideband O2 and S5 TB. I'm trying to get a used wideband O2, because I'm on a tight budget. My project will be interesting, since I am using only two stock 680cc injectors.

I found an NGK Powerdex AFX Wideband Sensor and Gauge Kit for 259.95 on-line to go with my Sprint RE and was thinking that it's a pretty good deal. What do you think?

I got an AEM wide band for around 2 bills. Gauge pod should be here this week, going to install it to see what stock ratios look like. Are you going to mod the S5 TB for OMP. I need to make my S5 TII TB drive my OMP. I don't want to premix.

Will not need the OMP, since I am using the Haltech. I have been pre-mixing for over several years now and realize now that it was the right thing to do. I would never consider using an OMP again.
