Haltech Installation Diagrams and Setup Tips
Well, here they are, Haltech diagrams for most of the different variations on installation options there are for the 2nd and 3rd gen RX-7's.
PS1K to FC Stock
PS1K to FC w/ MSD's
PS1K to FC w/ LS1 coils
PS1K to FC w/ M&W CDI
PS1K to FD Stock
PS1K to FD w/ MSD's
PS1K to FD w/ LS1 coils
PS1K to FD w/ M&W CDI
E6X to FC Stock
E6X to FD Stock
As for general settings guidelines, these can be used as suggested starting points:
1. FC and Stock Coils
Trigger Angle 65
Tooth Offset 11
Spark Mode Distributor
Constant Charge
Falling Edge
4.5mS
Internal Reluctor
Trigger Edge Falling
Home Edge Falling
Trigger/Home Filter 1
Trigger Gain 2-3
Home Gain 2-3
2. FC and MSD 6A's (not using stock igniters, if using stock igniters, connect MSD's after the igniter)
Spark Mode Wasted Spark (direct fire on E6X)
Constant Duty
Rising Edge
40% Period
3. FC and LS1 Coils
Spark Mode Direct Fire
Constant Charge
Falling Edge
4-6mS (in direct fire mode)
4. FC and M&W CDI
Spark Mode Direct Fire
Constant Duty
50%
Edge can be set on the box, falling or rising, make sure you have set them the same.
5. FD and Stock Coils
Trigger Angle 65
Tooth Offset 11 (offset is 5 for E6X)
Spark Mode Wasted Spark
Constant Charge
Falling Edge
4.5mS
Internal Reluctor
Trigger Edge Falling
Home Edge Falling
Trigger/Home Filter 1
Trigger Gain 2-3
Home Gain 2-3
Settings for Spark Mode are the same for FC and FD, if using the previously mentioned ignition system components. Always use LOCK TIMING value of -5 on the leading with 15 on the split. If using an aftermarket pulley that doesnt have ATDC marks, but does have a zero degree mark, you can always just lock timing at 0 degrees, and 0 split, this will let you sync the timing correctly, then run your leading and split accordingly.
NOTE for 13B-RE (cosmo) engines, the crank angle sensor on these engines tends to be a little more flaky than the 2nd gen, probably due to the fact that it combines the 2 reluctor grounds, where the FC CAS doesnt.
(can this be stickied??)

I hope it's okay that I posted this in this thread... If not, I can make a new one.
Okay, I think I am getting some conflicting information about how to wire my CAS. I am having spark issues, and I am almost positive it is related to the CAS. I have a bone stock ignition system on an S5 TII FC.
Here is how I was told to wire it:
In case you can't see the picture, here it is typed:
(The Haltech wire colors are on the left and the stock wire colors are on the right).
MAIN TRIGGER:
RED +12v Switched: Not Used
BLUE Ground: White & White/Black
YELLOW Trigger (+): Red
GREEN Trigger (-): Green
HOME TRIGGER: UNUSED Completely. I didn't even run the shielded gray/black HOME cable through my firewall...
Is this correct? As far as I can tell based on the diagram you posted, what I have now is way off.
Thanks!

The green wire from the CAS goes to the yellow wire of the home loom. Sorry I didn't catch that in your PM, I was thinking E8 for some reason. Also, connect the white/black to the green wire on the home loom.

Ok, this is confusing things so lets recap! The E8 is wired in a different manner than the E11 AND even more so than the Sport 1k and 2k boxes.
Soooo... The drawings on here are version specific. On the new Platinum 1000 and 2000 harnesses they have been done with the same colors between each other, which coincides with the E11 color scheme, so when asking or searching for wiring details please specify which ECU/Harness you have!
That diagram is actually incorrect since in the Sport boxes the Trigger and Home are separate and you indicate to wire the signal wires to the pos. and neg. trigger input wires. So, just to keep things kosher could we have that removed please?

And i also want to ask that you guys keep this thread opened for tech descriptions, tips and setup information. That way it doesnt get cluttered with many different questions.
Thanks.
I have not had time to finish up posting the other info i still had to upload. I have more diagrams and things that i need to put up. So can this thread be cleared up of those comments and have them placed on a new separate thread?

I think there's also an incorrect color scheme on the Trailing stock 2nd gen coil wire colors coming out of the coil pack, but before the connector. The wires after the connector are correct.
Update!
Done! Its now corrected.

Yeah, I suspected the trailing wires (Ign2, Aux Out) are switched, but this is my first Haltech install and it's been botched by a couple guys before I came along. The "other guys" tried to wire the Haltech directly to the trailing coils, bypassing the ignitor, and I suspect the unit is damaged - Ign1 as well as either Ign2 or Aux Out are fried.

I have a brand new never used e11 that I'm wiring for my 20b with LS1 coils and fd trigger set-up. So are you saying that my ecu's color scheme matches your diagram for the Platnum Sport 1000? I know my extra injectors and coils will change things. Example ignition 3 will actually be leading 3 and injector 3 will actually be primary rear rotor. I'm just trying to cut down my potential problems I may have since this is the 1st time I've ever wired a computer. I've read the though the manual a couple times already but your color diagram is very nice and helpfull.

I guess i can do a drawing for this, using LS1 coils, shouldnt be hard.

Here is ladies and gents, a basic triple rotor installation for PS2K using LS1 coils.
I dont have enough info on the stock OEM igniters/coils to do a Stock diagram yet. But since most people upgrade anyway, i guess we can start with this one. I did the trigger info for both 2nd and 3rd Gen CAS, how ever, on the 2nd Gen CAS wires that come standard on the OEM CAS on a 20B i dont have a color scheme, this 2nd gen CAS color scheme is from the 2nd gen RX-7 CAS.
If anybody has any info on this and sees any changes that need to be made to it, please let me know.

Wow thx that's awesome thx! One last question! On the PS1K to FD w/ LS1 coils chart, both + home and + trigger wires show to be yellow. When I stripped back my both my Haltech home and trigger cables, I show two white wires and no yellow. The other 3 colors (red blue, and green match). Am I color blind or do these white wires actually have the yellow strip?

If you have the milspec harness, this is the equivalent of an E11 harness, and the diagram is on the Haltech website. If you dont have a Psport harness you will have a different color scheme.
To all who have either an E8/E11 or Milspec harness:
Currently the Sport 1000 and 2000 have 2 pins, which are - trigger input and - home trigger input, these 2 pins are to better help with signal conditioning. If you have an E8/E11/Milspec harness these 2 wires are not on there, so, when wiring a Psport box using any of those harness, you have to use the Ground wire among the trigger budles, usually a blue wire that goes to pin 14 on the 26 pin connector. And in these instances, you will need to have check ON the trigger/home -ve check boxes in the trigger setup page. This references the negative side of the sensors to ground properly.
Keep this in mind when you purchase your units, or are upgrading from E8/E11 to Sport.

You may have a Milspec harness, are the main trigger and home trigger bundle of wires white on the main cover, or gray?

Well it looks like I have the Milspec harness. Both cables are white. Hell It's no wonder I was having trouble sorting those cables. I bought this ecu new from Reted early last year. So far I had been using the auto spec diagram from the Haltech web page to pre sort the wiring. Now I have to download the Milspec diagram and recheck my routing. I also previously downloaded Halwin 1.89. I guess I'll have to use Halwin 1.71 for my Milspec harness?
